Camping in the winter

Do you love the winter weather and cannot imagine at least one holiday in the mountains? Then here is an interesting and luxurious tip how to make the mountains an even more pleasant experience! Feel free to experiment and replace a mountain hotel for a caravan camp site. Not only you can take all your things with you, but you will experience a stunning adventure!

Mountains in the car

Do you long for an adventure associated with luxury either with a partner or with the whole family? It is caravan camping in winter that may be a great inspiration for you. If you set off to Czech mountains you do not need to worry either; all our campsites have the same facilities as elsewhere in Europe. You will find here showers, toilets, washrooms, lounges, kitchenettes, laundries, drying rooms as well as electrical connections. Some places even offer a sauna. A change of a butane gas canister is either possible locally or in the immediate vicinity of the camp.

The first Czech winter campsite

The first "winter campsite" in Bohemia, boasting of great facilities was opened twenty years ago in Deštná in the Orlické Mountains. Nowadays, the number of all-year camping sites keeps on growing.

Going abroad

If you go abroad, you will find hundreds of winter camping sites such as in the nearby Alpine countries. They will offer you everything you require for your winter stay. However, you have to take into your considerations that it is much more expensive.

Tips of the editor - camping abroad

Austria
In Montafon there is a total of 219 kilometres of ski slopes and apart from snowboarding and skiing you can also enjoy sledging or cross-country skiing. The campsite Nova is opened throughout the year.

The South Tyrol
The campsite Toblacher See is located in the Dolomites and is a popular venue for camping.

The Pyrenees in France and Spain
The most famous ski centres are "La Masella" with 44 or "Luz Ardiden" with 14 ski slopes. The campsite Camping le Rioumajou is located close to the skiing complex of Luz Ardiden. On the Spanish side is located Camping Queixans.

Norway
Norway is very popular for free-style camping, but it is necessary to observe the set rules associated with waste management and a number of days spent in one place. If you are afraid of wild animals, try Nordkapp Camping.

Your own or borrowed

It is clear that not everyone has a luxurious motorhome or caravan, therefore it is good to find out which rental provider offers the best cars for your winter adventures. You need to choose a caravan, which is equipped also for winter-time camping and which has a double floor and heating. If you are planning to camp outside of campsites, consider solar panels or greater-capacity, or ancillary batteries or otherwise resolve a possible problem with electricity.

Camping outside the campsite

If you do not want to pay for campsite facilities, enjoy luxurious sites below the ski slopes, available either free of charge, or for a small fee. More on www.skiing-parking-camping.cz

What to remember

What else than winter tires and chains, a must-have equipment in the mountains. Popularity of luxurious winter camping is growing - that is why it is a good idea to book your caravan place in advance!
