Actress Jana Plodková stars in the FW18 show by Jakub Polanka!
One of the most famous Czech fashion designers, Jakub Polanka, is at the very peak, which is why his shows at Czech fashion week are among the most highly anticipated. This year, Jakub once again presented interesting fashion, from elegant outfits to a more relaxed luxurious style.

The star of the show was the beautiful Jana Plodková
Jakub Polanka bet once again on the fine features and striking personality of one of the most popular actresses of the present, Jana Plodková. She gives preference to Czech designers before foreign brands, and has worked with Jakub several times before. She has modelled for him on the runway and worn his garments at social events. Once again, she presented her outfit at the show quite perfectly. The shiny royal blue dress complemented with a dainty turtleneck fit her like a glove. Elegant simply suits her!
From elegance to street style, dominated by miniskirts and denim
The luxurious show started off with elegant and minimalistic outfits, moved into oversized and street style, and finished with a colourful retro shell suit. The first part of the show was full of elegant items with wider shoulders, oversized jackets and coats, which accessorised elegant trousers and turtlenecks. The models took over the runway in asymmetric short miniskirts, which could be said to have dominated the rest of the show. What appealed to us, however, was the vast quantity of variations to choose from. Do you like jungle style, flowers, tie-dyeing or ordinary denim? Luxurious denim appeared on several garments in the collection. We particularly liked the tie-dyed cosmic combination, which created a unique effect. There were sweatshirts, jackets and coats in a similar style, which are sure to become an original accessory to every simple outfit.
Shell suits make a comeback!
If you love luxurious retro style, then you are sure to adore the shell suites from Jakub Polanka’s FW18 collection. Delicate pastel colours and interesting shapes might return you to your childhood or teenage years, when these things were still in fashion. Polanka is bringing them back! Another striking feature of the collection were the luxurious sweaters with colourful fringes, which give flair to simple trousers. Another stand-out element at the show were the oversized handbags, which are the latest “must have item”. So if you don’t have a serious handbag yet, choose one from the fall/winter collection of this talented designer.

Ready to wear? I don’t think so!
The atmosphere at the Jakub Polanka show was pleasant and electrifying at the same time. One of the things I enjoyed from the front line was the electronic music mixed with samples from the film Angelika. Then, among the almost transparent models (with an expression as though they’d just escaped the psychiatric ward – then didn’t even blink), actress Jana Plodková appeared on the catwalk. On the contrary, she delighted me with her positive expression! Nevertheless, her dress wasn’t much of a success – it would probably work well as a nightgown.
The show was interesting, but there weren’t very many wearable items. Sure, I liked the white miniskirt with the turquoise flowers, the grey sweatshirt and sneakers á la Botas twenty years ago. But when I saw the model’s bare naked cheeks sashaying from the back, I realised it would not be very suitable for regular wear.
What else can I say? Perhaps that in select company with premium champagne in hand, one can feel good even at a garbage dump.
