4 Beauties in the Legendary Pirelli Calendar. In the Czech Republic the Hammer Price reached CZK 100,000!
In the creation of the 2019 calendar the photographer drew ideas from the world of cinematography of the 30´s and 40´s of the last century. The luxurious pictures were made in the 16 : 9 format which evokes a film reel. In front of his lenses appeared model Gigi Hadid, actress Julia Garner and Laetitia Casta and ballerina Misty Copeland. What do they have in common? They are strong, have dreams and go relentlessly after their goal!
"I wanted to create something more than just someone´s portrait."
These are the words of photographer Albert Watson at the recent unveiling of the luxury calendar in Milan. So, instead of a portrait he photographed situations which play a main role in his pictures. To enhance his reference to the world of film even more, he styled the photos as films. Julia Garner posed as a photographer and Astrid Eika as a model. Laetitia Casta posed as a painter with ballet star Sergei Polunin, Misty Copeland as a dancer with American dancer, Calvin Royal III., and Gigi Hadid was styled into a rich lady together with designer Alexander Wang.
Albert Watson is famous by liking black colour, which is reflected in the photos for the Pirelli 2019 calendar.
The first calendar was created in the year 1964, when Pirelli, a tyre producer, wanted to create a luxurious gift for its clients. That this will turn out to be an exclusive affair, designated for VIP personalities and even noblemen, couldn´t have been foreseen by anybody. And there you go; this is its 46. issue!
One piece also came to the Czech Republic where it was auctioned.
The auction brought an exact sum of CZK 111,111, which is to be forwarded to the Masaryk Cancer Institute in Brno. The luxurious auction was won by entrepreneur Radek Grill.
