Vnitroblock hosted the opening of a vernissage of the talented painter Adam Jílek. The exposition entitled Sám sebou (Being Myself) will be on display on the premises with an unmistakable industrial atmosphere until 22.10. 2019. Make sure not to miss out on it, if you love art, animals or symbolism, which is precisely the thing that makes the magnificent exhibition so unique!
Despite his relatively young age, Adam Jílek already has more than enough achievements to show. Recently, he contributed to a collection of dresses in collaboration with Beata Rajská, his name appeared in the 30 under 30 ranking and he depicts a harsh reality by the means of luxury realistic paintings that are on display in various collections all around the world.
The central element of his work are animals, whom the artist attributes human qualities and sometimes even facial expressions, similarly to fables. Adam Jílek is able to brilliantly interconnect parallels between the two worlds and thus draw attention to various vices and bad habits that occur in human society.
"One of the reasons why I focus on the theme of animals is that in the history of art, animals have been neglected for the longest time,"
The exhibition Sám sebou extends across the entire Vnitroblock, although most of the luxury works are located in the rear part. Therefore you should make sure to try and discover all the hidden corners while visiting the exhibition. Don't miss the paintings located on the mezzanine or on the left side near the café!
The exhibition captures three cycles that are closely related. The first is the aforementioned collection of animals that depicts today's society with hyperbole and irony.
The second is ephemerality, which the artist depicts by deliberate omission of certain fragments and motives in paintings.
The last motif is life in a fairy tale, which represents a mirror of the real world. Well, this is one version of Mickey Mouse!
More luxurious paintings, at least half of which you'll want to take home, can be found in the gallery at the end of the article.
