In the cellar, visitors can become familiar with the development of Kampa and the history of Werich Villa. The premises on the ground floor house the luxurious Werich Café and the museum shop. The entire first floor is devoted to the permanent exhibition, partly complemented by period furniture, with original objects, photographs and documents. The Werich Villa Art Centre is the only museum in Europe that offers virtual reality, allowing visitors to view the luxurious exhibit in augmented form.
You will also find an area dedicated to famous Czech poet Vladimír Holan, who also lived in the villa for some time.
Jan Werich lived in this luxurious house for 35 whole years, but he was never the owner. He was a tenant of the City of Prague. The villa flourished during his lifetime. Werich’s visiting day, during which he welcome guests from the early morning, was famous, and was held every year on Christmas Eve Day. You can become familiar with the life of Jan Werich in this luxurious villa and the difficult era of the communist regime directly in the place where this life evolved.
