Nineteen-year old actress Elle Fanning, the younger sister of Dakota Fanning, had her debut on the runway. Both beauties recently starred in the Miu Miu – Whispers Christmas campaign and, while Elle has been the face of advertising campaigns previously, this was her premier in walking the runway.
Elle opened the deluxe show in an oversized camel coat, a blue bandanna and eccentric shoes with a zip, buckles and a satin bow. The young actress also closed the show and remained faithful to oversized volume. She brought out a tweed coat combined with leather, she replaced her blue bandanna with a lime green one and wore futuristic silver shoes. Her maxi hair volume, which was an essential accessory for a number of other models, completed her look.
As well as Elle Fanning, Kaia Gerber and Eliza Cummings also appeared on the runway. While Kaia is starting to become an experienced professional of fashion weeks, Eliza is the sensual face of the deluxe underwear brand Agent Provocateur.
The autumn collection is inspired by the nineteen eighties and offers several extravagant items, which are typical for this period: acid-wash jeans, oversized coats and jackets with wide shoulders or distinctive shoes with sequins. Other trends for the oncoming season include shoes with pointed toes, leather skirts, deluxe jackets, coats and handbags combining tweed with leather, brocade midi-length dresses and crazy necklaces made from chains.
The deluxe collections of Miu Miu, which are open, independent and feminine, enable women to express their personal feelings. Possibly because the brand is very popular with Hollywood stars. As well as the Fanning sisters, the brand is also worn by Sophia Lillis, Katy Perry, Miranda Kerr or Rita Ora.
Why do I lately keep seeing collections, which basically copy the terrible fashion mistakes of the nineteen eighties and nineties to the smallest detail? Miu Miu based its collection on the nineteen eighties, but in my opinion this is another MISTAKE of Paris Fashion Week!
OK, I consider the extravagant hairstyles and make up part of the game, but what about those horrible pointy ankle boots with those mini heels?! And then we have a range of acid-wash denim combined with V-neck sweaters. They remind me of suits from the socialist series “My všichni školou povinni”. How many girls have complained about their terrible “rags” in this series? And now these are all the rage again in 2018?!!! I hope not.....
The worst of all was the model in the turquoise coat with a purple scarf and red bandanna around her neck. I don’t understand who hired this lady as a model, because she clearly looked like an irritated janitor from an apartment house in Žižkov. And the clothing? Good grief, just don’t buy any of this and run to Elie Saab!
