A wedding doesn't necessarily have to be financially draining. On the contrary! You can earn money on it - as much as several million. And you know what? You don't even have to be all that serious about your relationship!
"For better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and health, until death do us part." Two American YouTubers Jake Paul and Tana Mongeau gave each other the famous vow at a wedding ceremony in Los Angeles. There would be nothing unusual about that, if the whole ceremony wasn't fake and the famous couple didn't earn $ 3.3 million - (76 million crowns) for a 10-minute live streaming from the event.
21-year-old Tana and 22-year-old Jake invited not only their family and friends, but also MTV cameras to their fake wedding. Through the Halogen app, their fans could also be present at the wedding. A total of 66,000 people didn't hesitate to pay nearly $ 75 - that is 1700 crowns, so they could watch the the famous couple say their "yes" from the comfort of their homes.
However, they were in for a massive disappointment. The video, which was no more than ten minutes long, started with a delay and, what's more, it was all blurry and shaky with a very poor sound. In this day and age, that's really annoying. And as if that wasn't enough, Tana and Jake left separately just a few hours after the ceremony.
When everything was over, many fans realized that besides having lost ten minutes of their lives, they'd also lost their money. Fortunately, Apple and Google Play promised the dissatisfied customers that their money would be refunded. And what about the stars of the day?
"Don't get me wrong, I think a wedding is a very serious thing, but at the same time it's true that me and Jake don't take many things seriously. Yes, I like him, but it's still just a form of entertaiment, that's how we create our content,”
The couple was planning the whole event meticulously, regularly supplying their fans with details of the preparations for the big day over the course of several months. It was therefore no wonder that the fans of the couple counted down days, hours, minutes, and probably even seconds until the big "yes".
Many famous personalities were present at the ceremony. Part of the big day was a flight on board of a private plane, a good diamond wedding ring, or a series of unique wedding cakes that were cut with a replica of a sword from Game of Thrones. This party was not exactly chaep - the costs came up to $ 500,000, which is a little under 12 million crowns.
