Anthony Vaccarello said this, when he organised an uncanny and epic open-air show with an illuminated Eiffel Tower in the background and an extravagant men’s collection.
But the premise that the show will be successful was very low. “You are not Yves Saint Laurent. Do not try to be,” Pierr Bergé said to Anthony about a year ago. Vacarello took his reminder to heart and started looking in archives to find out everything about the designer Yves Saint Laurent’s legacy. He just wanted to prove that he could keep at it. From all the information he put together, he made a magnificent, luxurious looking show after which Pierre Bergé himself took his hat off. “I had to praise him,” he said.
Everyone invited, quietly, with their mouth open, looked where they actually were, because the magic they experienced at first glance was a real dream. Not all the fame will be attributed to the luxurious breathtaking environment, but also to the men’s collection for Spring/Summer 2018, which was also brilliant.
The sparkling glow of Paris glamour, the Eiffel Tower perfectly illuminated, all the models and their outfits. Especially the men’s collection was dominated by an original elegant style, with a variety of such glittering details as luxurious golden flowers, sequins, stripes, embroidery and more. An important role was played by a luxurious looking bomber and other jackets made of shiny black material, or with leather details and patches. We were also attracted by the long coats, which were in the style of light gowns. While they will not warm you up very much in winter, they certainly fulfil their fashionable purpose.
Anthony Vaccarello succeeded to tell through his collection a stunning story of a designer with a sense of detail and luxurious materials and original items. The shiny material will be one of the greatest trends in the spring and summer and it will brighten your wardrobe. We have something to look forward to. Will you be succumbing to this trend, too?
I have been a hedonist all my life and I notice the men around me probably more than they actually think. Of course a normal man does not have to be clothed from head to foot like a catwalk model (you sometimes say “thank God” for that :) ), but there are a few features which should in my opinion be strictly adhered to. And they are: fragrance, wristwatch, shoes and well-fitting trousers!
When I saw the YSL show for summer 2018, I was first absorbed by the atmosphere of the Eiffel Tower itself, reminiscent of Champagne full of bubbles. And immediately after that, I saw a pair of the best-looking men’s shoes ever: black slightly-pointed patent leather shoes!
I was then completely taken by the amazing black leather trousers. I must say from my own experience that just about any man can get away with wearing leather trousers. Because they turn even a bottom reminiscent of a runway into a sexy bum which is just asking to be slapped!
