Reiki is a therapy discovered in 1922 by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui, which is why Japan is considered to be the country of origin. Mikao had allegedly not eaten for several days and in his hallucinations, the key to therapy was revealed to him. Reiki is the name for the energy in the human body and assumes the existence of chakras (energy centres) and meridians through which the energy flows. However, there are claims that he simply rediscovered a therapeutic procedure that existed long before the hallucinations of Mikao Usui.
Reiki may be carried out by a person that has initiated their energy system. This initiation has four phases, whereas the first phase is designated for self-therapy and the second for treating others by touch of hand. Through their hands, a Reiki practitioner passes new energy to the patient, which they use to heal.
Reiki represents instant relief for many people who have problems. It can reduce pain very quickly and accelerate the entire healing process.
Apparently, you can relieve anxiety, eliminate toxic substances from the body, and improve the process of harmonising body, mind and soul, all without pills and only through the effects of energy. Believers in this method claim that you can even go so far as to experience profound relaxation and discover the meaning of life. A luxurious idea, don’t you think?
This style of therapy is fairly widespread in the USA, Western Europe, Canada and Japan. In some countries, it has already been introduced at hospitals as complementary therapy.
In the Czech Republic, there are about 25 clubs engaged in this method of therapy, which is not strong enough a foundation to encounter it at hospitals any time soon. However, times are changing and people are generally leading away from the use of drugs, instead looking to the power of nature when possible. Maybe it is just a matter of time before we start using the force of the universe.
