It is no secret that the creative director of women's line, Nicolas Ghesquière has a taste for sci-fi, the space and futurism. It was translated into the previous collection of SS18 as well as the current show where the catwalk in the Louvre courtyard was transformed into a spaceship.
The spring collection glorified and placed emphasis on French history. It continues also in case of the collection for autumn, but at the same time elements of the present and future were added. There is an intermingling of eras and the luxury collection FW 18/19 is thus a playful mix of styles, carried in the spirit of stylish and wearable elegance.
In an attractive way, Louis Vuitton put the LV logo a little aside. If the brand is luxurious and successful in itself, it certainly does not need to showcase the logo under any circumstances - we welcome this step! A pleasant diversion are also the gold and silver adornments that lend the models a heavy metal tone.
For its FW 18/19 collection, Louis Vuitton selected rather darker and neutral colours. However, sporadically there are also some more striking tones; red, yellow, orange, purple, green or blue. The materials that have been used for the preparation of the collection, go hand-in-hand with raw autumn. Nicolas Ghesquière reached for tweed, wool, leather, but also silk or lace.
Which pieces has Louis Vuitton prepared for the autumn? Luxurious handbags, elegant blazers and formal suits, leather jackets and skirts, stylish blouses, woollen overcoats, comfortable oversized dresses or sensuous corsets. Louis Vuitton also enjoyed planning of the presentation of luxurious leather gloves when the models wore one only on one hand - the plan worked perfectly, attention was definitely attracted!
After the latest collection Louis Vuitton once again clearly affirmed its leading position in the field of fashion. At first glance it may be clearly seen that this is not just about discreet luxury, as for example in the case of Hermès. Nicolas Ghesquière has not been afraid to also reach for more extravagant pieces, and that is only right!
I very much like the classic combination of navy blue with white and gold. This is beautifully presented by the outfit where the model is wearing a longer blue skirt with gold buttons on the sides and something between a jacket and a jumper. And it is the semi-jumper which lifts up the whole outfit to a higher level. The decoration in the form of gold-silver fringes and buttons is simply the TOP! In short, urban ballad, fits for anything. If one jumps the queue in the Bake Shop a little, no one will certainly have any objections when looking at those jewels!
Then I am absolutely in love with the leather jacket, which by its end resembles a ballerina´s tutu. Despite the fact that it is deeply black, it makes a tender and dangerously sexy impression. Can you guess what I see? A passionate kiss in the narrow Golden Street near the Annenské Square, where the man pulls you by that belt a little closer to himself... YES!
