Gustav Klimt's impressive exhibition opens at the world's largest digital art center. In Bordeaux all the art fans will thus be able to dive into the work of the artist in all its forms thanks to introducing a new digital art center that was created in a special place, in a former underwater base.
“After the Atelier des Lumiéres, we are really excited about the creation of this huge digital art center for the city of Berdeaux. Bassins de Lumiéres will offer an unforgettable visual and sound experience in an extraordinary space where culture is shared and open to everyone,”
Adjusted to the shape of the former underwater base, which has since then been converted into an exhibition space, this new art center will undoubtedly be huge. Its total area is 13,000 square meters and has 12,000 square meters of projection space, four 110 meters long pools, 90 video projectors and 80 speakers.
Gustav Klimt (1862–1918) is a symbol of art deco, an epoch that fascinates and influences us until present days. The work of Gustav Klimt uniquely reflects this journey from the historicism of Vienna's Ringstraße to the beginnings of abstraction.
The grand opening is planned truly spectacularly. More than a million visitors are expected. The exhibition of Gustav Klimt with all the colors and gold is supposed to be an immersive experience. The images will be illuminated by light, reflecting the image on the water surface of the pools. This play of art, lights and point of view will be an unusual experience for all the visitors.
In parallel to the exhibition, a short program will be devoted to the German artist Paul Klee and the digital work of art the Ocean Data. The exhibition will open in April 2020.
