A bride, a mermaid, sexy vamp, sophisticated lady or fairy tale princess. This time, we could see a plethora of interesting star outfits in many forms on the red carpet. Fashion Upstream took a closer look at Milla Jovovich, Olivia Culpo, Elle Fanning, Catrinel Marlon, Paz Vega, Nicole Kimpel, Patricia Gloria and Elsa Hosk. And the sensual Elsa Hosk is the one that charmed us the most with her dress!
The utterly divine dress by Alberta Ferretti, worn by the Swedish beauty Elsa Hosk, won us over at first glance. The lilac shade fits the model perfectly and the refined cut gives the dress a touch of luxury. We must also praise the gorgeous shoes and make-up - everything gets top marks here.
The star Milla Jovovich dressed in a metallic dress by Balmain with a sash and a long train, combined with a gentle fairy-like look. The romantic hairstyle made the actress look several years younger. The overall impression is, however, marred by the unfitting cut of the dress in the chest area. This really didn't work out for the usually flawless Balmain!
Model Olivia Culpo also bet on romance and put on a mermaid style dress by Ralph & Russo. The gown with floral applications was completed by luxurious jewelry by Messika Paris, and we're at a loss for words at the sight of that sheer beauty.
The dresses that actresses Elle Fanning and Catrinel Marlon wore were like something out of a fairy tale. To everyone's surprise, Elle dressed in a wedding gown by Reem Acra covered in delicate embroidery and sparkling applications; she looked enchanting in it.
Catrinel, on the other hand, bet on the haute couture fashion house Gyunel in London, and in a dress with a voluminous skirt and a swan motive, she looked gorgeous too. Just as with Milla, though, the overall impression is ruined by the execution of the dress in the neckline area. Why do designers keep doing this...
Antonio Banderas arrived in Cannes with his girlfriend Nicole Kimpel, who wore a beautiful dress by Ali Karoui with a long slit. We must give praise for the well chosen clutch and pumps.
The charming Paz Vega bet on the American-Lebanese designer Rami Kadi, and it was the right choice. This elegant model with a chic ruffle fit her perfectly and revealed her flawless figure.
Patricia Gloria showed up to Cannes in the same thing that we saw earlier on Sara Sampaio at the amfAR Gala. The Nicole + Felicia gown might be beautiful, but it's slightly old news.
The opening and closing night of the film festival is among the MOST IMPORTANT moments. It has plenty to offer to movie fans and fashion fans alike. How did it turn out this year? I'll tell you this - I don't intend to go easy on anybody!
Top model Elsa Hosk completely blew me away with her gown by Alberta Ferretti. Luxurious peacock feathers in a delicate lilac shade, a cascading skirt, everything surprisingly well matched with classical red. This unusual color combination may have been risky, but this time it really worked out!

Milla has always been my favorite actress. She's looked beautiful for the past 20 years, you'd barely ever guess her to be 43 years old. However, at the closing night she did something unprecedented. She overshadowed her Balmain gown. Her elvish hairdo, subtle make-up and innocent look completely trumped the glitter explosion of the disco thing (kind of boring) that she wore. That's what I call hitting it out of the park!

Patricia Gloria, a model and part-time actress of Mexican origin, played the main role in a huge faux pas! At the closing night she showed up in a gown that totally copies a model by Armani Privé. Do you remember the AmfAR Gala event? The Portuguese actress Sara Sampaio wore an identical dress there, with black ostrich feathers. Not only did she look better in it, but the humiliation of wearing a copy, and by different designers (Nicole + Felicia) on top of that, is simply a social suicide!

The dreamiest dress at the entire event was most likely worn by the ethereal actress Elle Fanning. Hand-embroidered details, spider-silk-like fabric... you can't find anything wrong here. You can only admire Reem Acra's work in awe! Indescribable beauty. It's as if somebody'd pulled this gown out of a fresco done by Michelangelo himself.

And the most boring outfit? The Spanish actress Paz Vega appeared at the closing night in some kinda copy of authentic evening attire from the 80's. The massive organza ruffle was peak bad taste from designer Rami Kadi for me. Next time he should maybe clean those glasses of his instead of letting somebody turn up at a formal event dressed like this!
