The Jan and Meda Mládek Foundation is doing its utmost to ensure that the legacy of Jan Werich is fulfilled as faithfully as possible within the terms of all activities held at Werich’s Villa. Christmas was reputedly the most important event in the life of this famous actor. Hundreds of famous guests passed through the house and Christmas Eve became something like Open Day because Jan Werich loved company and good food. The newly renovated Werich’s Villa opened an exhibition titled “What it was like being with the Werich Family” in his honour last year and this year it decided to find out what food was served at the Werich house. A book titled “My Favourite Recipes” was also published. The recipes from this book are original and authentic to the time in which Werich lived and, apart from a few exceptions, they all originated using the “leftover odds and ends” procedure.
