VFILES SS19: A show full of curiosities at NYFW concluded with rapper Lil Kim

During NYFW, four young, talented designers shared the runway with the VFILES brand. While some of them stuck to minimalism and fairly standard rules of fashion, others let their fantasy run at full tilt.

Elena Velez: Minimalism with maximal nudity
The luxurious show opened with the minimalist outfits of Elena Velez. This young designer was not afraid to show of the female body, and she sent her models onto the runway truly scantily dressed. Bare chests, sensual mini dresses, cut-outs and sheer fabrics were all on display during the show.
MARRKNULL stuck to the rules and… went down!
The designer duo operating under the MARRKNULL brand stuck to rather routine conventions and presented nothing new compared to the other designers. The denim outfit with cowboy boots and cotton-candy pink dress left us pretty cool.
SHUTING QIU: Variations on Hannibal Lecter
On the contrary, the SHUTING QIU show was reminiscent of a variation on the Richard McQuinn FW18 collection, the presentation of which this February couldn’t be missed even by Queen Elizabeth II herself. SHUTING QIU works with a luxurious play of materials and applies elements of eclecticism. The extravagant look was complemented by masks that reminded us of the terrifying Hannibal Lecter. In terms of makeup, Richard McQuinn remains miles ahead.
WINDOWSEN: The high life
Apart from the shocking outfits which in many cases had little to do with luxury fashion, the Windowsen brand stood out with its footwear, which will get your head spinning. Remember the high platform shoes that it was impossible to walk in, but which pleased the eye so much in the Nineties? Start training, because they’re making a comeback!

For the finale, the runway hosted a luxurious collection by the VFILES brand, created by designer Paula Cupo and starring American rapper Lil Kim.

Nothing compared to our trio Krnáč, Babicová, Coufalová!
Like our MBPFW, New York Fashion Week understandably makes room for new designers to pull out their “claws” and show of what they’ve got! However, it should be noted from the outset that this time, our “baby” Prague Fashion Week presented a much better team in this regard. In other words, the trio Krnáč, Babicová and Coufalová really beat their American counterparts! Literally.
The only outfit I found at least slightly tolerable were the denim overalls by VFILES. And obviously the only reason was that they were worn by a sexy young blond guy and I felt like tucking a fifty-dollar bill into his trouser leg! Why didn’t this hot boy give us a Chippendales' show, instead of the plastic Lil Kim with her face stretched all the way to her shoulder blades??? What a shame...
I would also like to set straight my perception of extravagance. Yes, I understand perfectly that young designers want to shock and stun as many influential people from the fashion world as possible, but I didn’t get the denim outfit by MARRKNULL at all, for instance. The light denim shirt, “tuzex” jeans up to the waist with a flashy belt, a red leather handbag, giant diamond-shaped earrings (probably to emphasise the meaning of the outfit) and finally those weird grey boots!!!! What kind of innovation or extravagance is that? Every other person at the flea market in Vysočany is dressed like that…
