If anyone is to be described as stellar of Czech fashion scene it is undoubtedly Liběna Rochová. She´s been enriching the world by her models since the 1980's and since then she obtained several prestigious awards and nominations. Inter alia the award of Fashion Designer of the Year and the Grand Designer of 2015 within the framework of Czech Grand Design. But it is not just the Czech little playing field where the designer scores. She often represents the Czech scene abroad, where she organises luxury shows and exhibitions. Her favourites include the metropolises of Paris, Vienna, New York or Los Angeles.
The name of Liběna Rochová has been associated with Lucie Bílá for many a year, who has thus become the ambassadress of LR Studio. However, the renowned designer applies her talent not only on evening gowns and dresses, but other areas, too. Currently she is the head of Clothing and Footwear Atelier at the University of Applied Arts in Prague and in the past she also designed theatre and film costumes. Looking at one of the models of Colors 18, a luxury maxi dress of rainbow colours with horizontal stripes, one cannot shake off the impression that the designer´s task was to create a couture model for a romantic fairy.
The limited collection, Colors18, gives freedom to feminine silhouette. Therefore these pieces are intended for the summer season, full of airy cuts and max volume. The models are dominated by the max and midi length, but there are also a few mini pieces. The range of colours includes pastel yellow, blue, green and red. The designer´s favourite black was thus left completely aside!
The luxurious models are made of high-quality materials - linen from French yarn produced and processed by a Czech producer and artificial fibre made in Switzerland. Colors18 thus offers an interplay of contrasting fabrics where unyielding artificial fibre competes with soft linen. An integral part of the magnificent models is played also by sequins, stripes, ruched detailing and last but not least bright shimmer and shine.
How do you like the sound of Colors18 then? Did Liběna Rochová persuade you that summer belongs to maxi volume and vibrant colours?
The legendary Czech designer, Liběna Rochová, introduced a new, colourful collection, which is by its tones reminiscent of fragile candy floss. However, in my opinion, one cannot really talk about fragility here at all.
If you look at Mrs Liběna, she is almost always seen in black clingy clothes, complemented by sexy high heels. And then this elegant lady designs a collection of sausage-shaped rainbow-coloured trousers and tassel sandals made of hard material? Personally I find this to show a certain problem with feminine curves which I really miss in her collection. A great pity!
The next time I would draw inspiration from designers such as Zuhair Murad or Elie Saab. That is exactly what women are really after...
