The logistics company Zásilkovna has terminated its cooperation with the Czech Post. The reason was dissatisfaction with the quality of its services and the constant increase in prices. By the end of January, a large-capacity vaccination center established in the Prague 02 Universe will be put into operation. Multi-Grammy Award winner Billie Eilish has announced the release of her own photo book.
One of the planned large-capacity vaccination centers will be established in Prague's O2 Universum, claimed Prime Minister Andrej Babiš. What's more, epidemiologist Roman Prymula said for Czech Television that it should be operational by the end of January.
On Monday, there were 9,294 new cases of Covid-19 in the Czech Republic, which is a quarter less than last Monday. The ratio of positive tests also decreased, to 29.3%. This means that the spread of the disease has slowed down slightly, but the risk index of the anti-epidemic system DOG remains unchanged. That's one of the reasons why a large-capacity vaccination center will be established in the O2 Universe in Prague.
For the time being, the state delivers the vaccine without medical supplies, such as needles and syringes. Hospitals thus have to use their own resources, and they warn that the supplies will run out. The situation is being addressed by the State Material Reserves Administration (SSHR). The Czech Republic also jumped on board with the rest of Europe and resorted to ordering material from China.
Germany plans to tighten controls on people entering the country to get the increase in coronavirus cases, which leads to a record number of deaths in the European Union's most populous country, under control. The proposal, which is due to be approved by the MEPs today, will require that people arriving from countries with a large number of cases or countries where a new mutation of the virus has appear to undergo a test for the disease.
Germany has already tightened the measures last week and extended the blocking of borders until the end of January. Yesterday, the Robert Koch Institute for Infectious Diseases (RKI) reported 12,802 new coronavirus cases and 891 deaths, bringing the total number of German victims since the start of the pandemic to 41,577.
As of January 31, the logistics company Zásilkovna terminated its cooperation with the Czech Post. The reason was their long-term dissatisfaction with the quality of Czech Post's services and the constant unilateral increase in its prices. According to a statement for ČTK, the Post assumed that negotiations on prices would continue.
Zásilkovna provided the so-called first mile service for the Czech Post. Internet shops could submit shipments intended for delivery by the Czech Post at any delivery point of Zásilkovna in the Czech Republic, and Zásilkovna then handed over these packages to the Czech Post in their sorting depots. During 2020, it handled around 600,000 shipments for the Czech Post.
"I am very sorry that Česká pošta, unlike state and commercial companies in the field of logistics abroad, did not perceive Zásilkovna as a partner that has been helping it for a long time and is supportive of cooperation. The post was constantly raising prices that did not correspond to the volume of shipments, and as a result of this regular increase in prices, we got to the point where we were losing money on virtually every shipment,"
Yesterday, Vice President Mike Pence said that he opposed the removal of President Donald Trump's from office based on the 25th Amendment after his supporters had besieged the US Capitol last week. One of the sections of the 25th Constitutional Amendment addresses a situation in which the American president is unfit to serve, but does not resign himself.
"I do not believe that such a course of action is in the best interest of our nation or consistent with our Constitution,"
Pence said in a letter published by his office. On Tuesday, at least three Republicans, including a member of the House of Commons, said that they would vote on removing Trump from the office due to the President having called on his supporters to march on the Capitol and "fight" shortly before the attack that led to the deaths of five people.
Pence added. Stripping the President of power under such an amendment requires a statement by the Vice-President and the majority of the President's Cabinet.
