Due to the uncertain situation caused by the coronavirus epidemic, which plagued the Czech republic as well as the rest of the world and continues to do so, a great number of events were canceled. Those who have, against all odds, decided to save the situation and go through with their event have to follow very strict rules.
The most watched and most attended annual event, the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, will not take place at all this year. Instead, the festival's program department has devised a so-called Tady Vary show program, which means that from July 3 to 11, 16 films will be screened in ninety-six Czech cinemas. Each film will have only one exclusive performance, which will take place in all participating cinemas at the same time.

Two fashion events have been merged into one
Fashion lovers can relax, because the Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion Week will take place in September. However, there's one big BUT.
"We decided to merge the spring and autumn editions into one. Designers can present the FW20 collection to visitors in the see-now-buy-now manner, or choose the traditional model and introduce a SS21 collection,"

LP-life.cz project coordinator Lucie Fialíková said to LP-life.cz, adding:
"Recently, we have also adjusted the capacity of the whole event. Due to restrictions in air travel, the international backstage team will be reduced to the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The autumn edition will also have to do without the usual participation of foreign journalists and photographers."

Of course, all security measures ordered by the government will have to be followed. Disinfection will be available on site at almost every corner and organizers will distribute protective equipment. The MBPFW will be held from 4 to 11 September on the premises of Gabriel Loci, in the area of the former monastery of St. Gabriel in Prague 5.
Fewer lights will be lit up in Prague
Although the Signal Festival Praguers love doesn't take place before October, the coronavirus catastrophe affected it too. It will run from 15 to 18 October and promises to bring a new route that will take visitors to less known places in a Prague district, where the festival has never been held before. Measures for the safety of all participants are already being addressed.
"We have drawn up several scenarios of how the festival could take place in October, and it is clear that we are in for some changes. We'll be working mainly with Czech artists, we'll discover new locations for visitors outside the center and bring a new route. And I can't rule out that there will be fewer installations compared to previous years. The final form of the eighth year will be influenced by the events of the summer months,"
says festival director Martin Pošta.

The theme of the festival is Plan B. The works of art will thus address environmental issues and the future of human coexistence with the planet.
