The Metronome Festival, which is held at the Exhibition Grounds in Prague, will be pretty momentous this year. Everyone is particularly waiting to see what will happen on the stage, when Massive Attack enter the podium from backstage. This year it will be exactly 20 years from the time they released their famous album Mezzanine, which the band has been unable to surpass.
Massive Attack and The Chemical Brothers are the biggest attractions at this annual Prague music festival. Sexy Dancers, well-known to Czechs and funk fans will also be performing. David Byrne, John Cale, Tata Bojs and Zrní will also guarantee first-class music will heard on this weekend at the Exhibition Grounds.
The traditional United Islands of Prague festival, which is held in June and will take place on several podiums in Karlín and in clubs in the centre of Prague in the evening and night, is slightly poorer in regard to famous names. Mostly Czech and Slovak bands will appear at this festival, don’t expect any world famous stars.
David Koller will play on Friday, you can also look forward to Buty or Vypsaná Fixa. Indie-rock band Leoniden from Germany and Art Pavillon from Austria will also come and play for us. Piano fans should not miss Alex Mercado’s performance, he is originally from Mexico and will demonstrate his deluxe skills in the field of modern jazz.
You may not be familiar with the names of these bands, but you may be pleasantly surprised to discover new talents. But if you want certainty, Metronome is calling your name! Enjoy the musical weekend and we hope you survive it in good health!
