All sorts of balaclavas and pieces of fabric covering the mouth and even the entire face have become the hit of the deluxe FW18 collections. Designers have put these accessories on both ladies and men. The motto of autumn is evidently see nothing and speak nothing, or possibly simple become invisible! This crazy element was incorporated into collections by LAFORMELA in collaboration with Footshop, Jan Černý, Katarína Mydliarová, Adam Kost or the deluxe ODIVI brand.
Spiders coming out of mouths, multi-coloured fur coats for men, models and accessories made from plastic and latex, artificial men’s breasts or balaclavas and fabric covering mouths and entire heads. There were so many shocking items in the FW18 collections of Czech designers and VAN GRAAF Junior Talent 2018 finalists that choosing just several of them was practically impossible.
Young Slovak designer Katarína Mydliarová presented some of the most bizarre models. She competed in the VAN GRAAF Junior Talent finals with models in the form of protective clothing, red latex overalls as if from space, terrifying balaclavas or monstrous shoe coverings. In spite of her creativity she failed to win and Czech designer Martin Kohout stole first place from her. He clothed one of his models in an item made from pieces of plastic, the rear of which was completely transparent and the model needed more than a little courage to present it.
Prague Fashion Week was closed by a show by LAFORMELA in collaboration with Footshop. During this show one model very unluckily fell several times. We can only hope that next time LAFORMELA will take care which shoes it sends its models onto the runway in during a deluxe event like the MBPFW.
Prague Fashion Week has ended and so it is time to discuss the most bizarre items from all the collection we saw.
What can I say? When we looked around, everyone looked as if they had invented a cure for cancer while trying to sit on miniature chairs somewhere by the steps. But anyone with connections had a magnificent experience: the VIP corner, hooray, they are pouring the champagne!
Jan Černý was the author of one of the biggest mistakes. His collection celebrated terrifying spiders with the addition of burkas – these are placed over the head, which is covered by a hood in front with a dense fabric screen. This allows the woman to see, but no one else can glimpse even her eyes. What was this supposed to mean? Are we somewhere in the middle of Afghanistan? Or at a Czech post office as witnesses to a hold-up? I think someone needs to limit their intake of psychotropic substances for breakfast...
And then we have a lady called Dominika Kozáková. I think she was inspired by a clip called Muscleman (2001) by Leoš Mareš, who was evidently a great supporter of PETA at the time with his fake fur, like Kozáková with her red polyamide. And then we have some inspiration in the form of Jaromír Jágr’s girlfriend – Veronika Kopřivová – from her stripper career. How else can one explain the glossy white boots on mega heels looking like they came from a border nightclub in Cheb? Shock, horror!
Petra Ptáčková and her models in well-washed pillowcases and socks like they were worn by Indians: Where did she get this idea from? From the workshops at the psychiatric hospital in Bohnice?
Another lady waiting well-deserving of criticism is Katarína Mydliárová, whose models in my opinion are intended to prevent exposure to radioactivity. But Katarína evidently has not realised that Černobýl exploded in 86!
And what about the clothes by ODIVI? These consisted of some carpet tape joined into some sort of clothing! Anyone who thinks that wax is a cruel tool for depilation would die when taking off this model!
Don’t be guided strictly by what you see at Fashion Week! Otherwise you may fall on your rump, just like that poor fake girl from LAFORMELA. See you at the shows in six months!
