The former governor of the Central Bank, Mark Carney, has been elected as the successor to the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the head of the Liberal Party. Long-time party leader Trudeau announced in January that he would step down from the head of the party and government once his successor was elected. Trump is increasing pressure on Kyiv in an effort to coerce him into peace talks and a swift end to the war in Ukraine. He is reportedly also set to resume sharing intelligence information with Ukraine soon.
Former central banker Mark Carney will become the new head of the Canadian government after the local Liberal Party elected him with 85.9 percent support on Sunday. He faces several challenges: a trade war threatened by US President Donald Trump, the possibility of annexation of the country and expected federal elections. Fifty-nine-year-old Carney will replace Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who announced his resignation in January. Carney is an economist with Wall Street experience who has long been interested in entering politics, according to the AP agency.
The United States will soon restore intelligence sharing with Ukraine, said US President Donald Trump. The sharing of intelligence with Ukraine was interrupted by the USA last week shortly after Trump announced the decision to suspend military aid to this country, which has been resisting the Russian invasion since February 2022. Shortly thereafter, France offered to share intelligence with Kyiv. On Tuesday, meetings of American and Ukrainian diplomats are to be held in Saudi Arabia discussing a possible truce in the war in Ukraine. On Sunday, Trump also said he hopes these negotiations will yield good results, reported by the Ceskenoviny.cz server.
The Romanian far-right and pro-Russian politician Calin Georgescu will not be able to run for office again in May. The Romanian electoral commission has decided. The politician can appeal against its decision to the Constitutional Court. Georgescu won the first round of last year's presidential election with almost 23 percent of the votes. In December, however, two days before the second round, the Constitutional Court annulled the election. It did so on the basis of declassified security documents, according to which Russia interfered in the election. The first round of the repeated presidential elections is due to take place on May 4, the server Ceskenoviny.cz informed.

This will allow them to initiate the legal process of resettling or voluntarily returning to their home country, reported Al Jazeera. Many of them claim that they fled from violence and repression in China, Russia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Nepal, and other countries.
