The Met Gala fashion event is one of the most eagerly awaited events of the year! Well-known celebrities have attended every year since 1995, to flaunt themselves in the most deluxe and most beautiful gowns to be seen. As is traditional, this prestigious event was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and this year the theme was religion. And how did the famous stars come to terms with this?
This ceremonial event always takes place on the first Monday in May and it is always followed by a thematically related exhibition by the Costume Institute. Amazing chief editor of the Vogue Magazine, Anna Wintour, is behind the whole event and you cannot attend the Met Gala without an invitation from her. Regular and popular guests include Katy Perry, Rihanna, Sarah Jessica Parker and other beautiful women. How did they come to terms with the dress code on a religious theme this year?
Blake Lively, one of the most popular and beautiful actresses, surprised us yet again with her deluxe choice of gown, this time from Versace. Every time this blond appears somewhere, people’s jaws drop open. Her beautifully and artfully embellished gown fitted her perfectly and her beautiful headpiece transformed her into a goddess.
This beautiful actress didn’t lose any sleep over the dress code, but adhered to it perfectly. She wore a beautiful red gown by Carolina Herrera to the event, which suited her type of personality perfectly and chose a deluxe headband that looked like a halo as her “religious element”.
Popular singer Katy Perry wore one of the most distinctive dresses of the evening. She accessorised her short gold Versace gown, embellished with distinctive crystals, with deluxe gold boots, a chic hairstyle and breath-taking, enormous wings. She looked simply magnificent!
Chocolate Barbadian beauty Rihanna surprised us with her magnificent and distinctive outfit by Maison Margiel. Although she is well-known for her fashion creations frequently being very striking, she affirmed her reputation once more. He deluxe, short, pale dress was embellished with beads, a shawl and a hat that only the Pope deserves to wear. She practically took everyone’s breath away.
Proud new parents Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott wore dark black to the Met Gala this year. Their outfit by the Alexander Wang brand bore no reminder to the religious theme, but they looked very good together. Kylie emphasised her curves with her amazing black dress.
Captivating actress Diane Kruger chose a truly magnificent gown, which fit her like a glove. The gown by Prabal Gurung with the bare shoulders, ruffled lowered sleeves and balloon skirt with a long train, looked magical. The subtle golden embellishments gave it the right flair.
The theme of one of the most prestigious social events in the world, the Met Gala held by Anna Wintour, and also an event that people will commit murder to get invitations to, was “Fashion and Catholic Imagination” this year. And now let’s see who impressed and who crashed and burned.
Blake Lively, one of my favourite actresses, pulled out all the stops she possibly could and arrived at the Met Gala in a very dramatic model by Versace. Apparently it took 600 hours to create!!! In my opinion Blake completely hammered the competition in this gown. She wore the best outfit of the entire evening! Her outfit has everything: flair, religious history (just look at the paintings by the old masters) and a certain untouchability.

What better short-cut to the religious theme than gold and a golden halo? Amber chose a rich scarlet gown by Caroline Herrera, which had no split or deep overflowing neckline. But that was all good in my opinion, because her practically demonic appearance was irresistible. And I fell in love with the subtle buttons embellishing the sleeves of her dress.

Heavenly = angel wings! The radiant gold model worn by Katy from the Versace House of Fashion was in exactly this spirit. I must say that it is one of the models that absolutely amazed me and was 100% unique. Most of the women attending the event simply wore a halo, but Katy always knows what to wear to be unique. And when she kneeled and said a short prayer on the red carpet, that was more than just a gesture. The only thing I would change was the musketeer boots, which I thought looked too unsophisticated. And the wings, I want those!!!! Bravo !

Rihanna awarded herself the highest Catholic position possible for the Met Gala. Hello, hello....has the new Pope arrived? Designer Maison Margiel really cut loose in application of various pearls and stones. The entire gown was apparently very heavy and was created exclusively by hand. But in spite of the beauty I thought that Rihanna looked like the dress was quite tight (or is she pregnant?). It seemed she couldn’t even take a deep breath, and I deducted a few points for that. I hate it when someone undergoes physical torture by gown. :-

The new parents attended their first big party, the Met Gala. They probably couldn’t have wished for a better social “entrée”. They both attended wearing models by Alexander Wang, who was also present at their arrival. Kylie also accessorised her model with silver sunglasses, which reminded me of Matrix. I have no idea how this element and Travis’ military style was related to the theme of the event – “Catholic imagination”! And Kylie, with her breasts overflowing her neckline was also a little off the mark....quite poor taste for a new mother.

This German-American actress, who is over forty and looks like she is thirty (really), arrived at the Met Gala in a heavenly blue dress with an unending train embellished with gold. Prabal Gurung designed this dress, and in my opinion it is one of the better models of the entire event. And the beautiful headpiece with the netting, perfect! I would choose something similar for myself.

The actress, who is better known by the name of her character Carrie from “Sex And The City”, wore an enormous gold gown scattered with hearts and an unparalleled headpiece to the Met Gala. Dolce & Gabbana whose base is in Italy and which is a very Catholic brand, including the designers themselves, really cut loose on the headdress. It depicts the birth of the Son of God. I have not seen anything as shocking and simultaneously fascinating for a long time. But is this model one of the best? I don’t think so....Sarah reminds me of the character of the Queen of Hearts from “Alice in Wonderland” played by Helena Bonham Carter. And her blue-toned makeup and the horsetail hairpiece? Ridiculous….
