Freeriding

Freeriding refers to skiing and snowboarding on natural terrain. It is a relatively young sport which developed gradually alongside the arrival of snowboarding. Skiers usually use special wider skis that are better suited to deep snow. Snowboarders usually prefer longer boards with a wider front than back. Freeriding is considered an extreme sport as it is high-risk and often dangerous. This is also why it is so fascinating to watch, even though it may make your blood run cold.

Swatch Freeride World Tour

The Swatch Freeride World Tour is regularly held here, and this has been the case since 2008. This year won’t be an exception, quite the contrary. This luxurious world tour will celebrate its 10th anniversary.

From 27 January to 2 February, 50 freeriders will showcase their skills. The Chamonix Valley will welcome 22 male skiers, 11 female skiers, 9 male snowboarders and 8 female snowboarders.

From Chamonix, participants will proceed to Vallnord-Arcalís, a destination in the Pyrenees. The third stop will be in the Austrian Fierbrunn, and elite participants fighting their way to the next round will then continue to the luxurious mountains in Haines, Alaska.

The grand finale will take place back in Europe, in Verbier, Switzerland, where the winners of all 4 categories will be announced.

During the race in Chamonix, the luxurious town will turn into a center of entertainment that offers various stands, concerts and other high-class events to its visitors.
