This year it will already be 30 years since the creation of the film Rain Man which won four Oscars, including one for best directing of Barry Levinson. Dustin Hoffman appeared in one of his most notable acting performances. In addition, it also starred Tom Cruise and Valeria Golino.
Barry Levinson for example wrote the screenplay for Norman Jewison for the court drama …and justice for all (1979), which won him and his wife, with whom he cooperated, an Oscar nomination. It was also the director of the comedy Diner (1982); the screenplay brought a second Oscar nomination. The film music was participated upon by Ivan Král, Czech musician living in the US.
Other films of Barry Levinson include: The Natural (1984) with Robert Redford, Tin Men, (1987) with Richard Dreyfuss and Danny DeVito or Good Morning, Vietnam (1987) starring Robin Williams.
It has been twenty years since the première of the luxury political satire Wag the Dog in which he continues his cooperation with Dustin Hoffman, who was nominated for an Oscar for his performance. For the film Barry Levinson was given the Silver Bear award by the jury at Berlinale in 1998.
At the Karlovy Vary film festival, Barry Levinson will present his latest great directing achievement, Paterno, a drama about a sex scandal, involving the most notable football coach at the Pennsylvania State University. The main role is played by Al Pacino, and in the film you will also see Riley Keough or Kathy Baker.
Both of the above films will be screened at the festival, Rain Man and Wag the Dog.
