Beauty and luxury everywhere you look. Let´s take it from the beginning. The island of Palawan is located between the South China Sea and the Sulu Sea, west of the Visayas archipelago. Its length is approximately 450 km and width about 40 km. The capital is the town of Puerto Princesa. Here you can explore about 1,800 small islands and various reefs, which provide a feast for the eyes.
A beautiful bonus here is the coral reefs of Tübatulabal, a renowned national park, registered in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The island is intersected by the longest known underground river which flows directly into the sea. Did you know that there are almost 90 ethnic groups, which talk circa 50 languages? The interesting thing is that in Palawan there are no volcanoes, so there is no threat of an earthquake.
Nacpan is a circa 70 kilometres-long beach southwest of Puerto Princesa. In my opinion this is the most beautiful beach of the entire Philippines, although the beaches of the island of Boracay are not far behind. No one could say no to the pure coral sea and intact nature!
In the northern part of the island of Palawan is located the village of El Nido, which has a very rapid pace of life indeed. Here you will find excellent restaurants, bars, night discos, shops, luxury shops, hotel resorts, beautiful beaches and, beware, Filipinos know how to enjoy themselves, so do not underestimate them! On the other hand, above El Nido proudly stand great black mountains with pointed peaks, which seems to grow up before your eyes when you walk past them.
You will come across various options of making your stay at Palawan really varied. My experience which I can only recommend to you is to book a one-day trip by a small boat and explore the luxurious places around El Nido. I was awaited be snorkelling, relaxation on the beach, canoes, zipline, barbecues and befriending a huge iguana. Great!
If I were to sum up the whole of the magic of the island, although it would be a difficult task, I would say ´variety´. You can stay a whole month at Palawan and there will still be things that the island offers that you haven´t seen. I guarantee you that will not be bored. To conclude, I would like to give you one advice: it pays off to devote more time to this island!
