A luxurious collection full of sensual femininity and plastic turbans!

Azzedine Alaïa had his own way to do things. This is also confirmed in the luxurious Haute Couture F/W 2017. Interesting textures, prominent colorful themes, sensual femininity, highly precise production, luxurious material and sophisticated uniqueness. The collection is full of luxurious models of various lengths: we’ll find long evening gowns, sensual minis, well-designed suits as well as fur and leather coats. The collection is accompanied by prominent accessories – high heels, stocking boots and hard-to-miss plastic turbans. The beauties on the catwalk included British top model Naomi Campbell, who also started the show.

A designer who did broke fashion trends

Azzedine Alaïa was a French designer born in Tunisia who entered the world of top fashion design in the eighties. As a fledgling designer, he worked for the luxurious brand Christian Dior and later on made a living by designing dresses for the aristocracy. The designer became a prominent member of the Haute Couture association and gained fame thanks to his timeless robes which emphasized femininity. He was also often praised for his stance – instead of blindly following fashion trends, he had his own style!

However, life is like that and Alaïa could at least leave with peace of mind because his last show was a masterpiece.

A white mink jacket strewn with red blossoms or red floaty dress covered with roses with fine black muslin underneath: I call that perfection! The final dress, worn by supermodel Naomi Campbell to close off the show now retrospectively seems to have indicated the spectacular but early end of one of the few fashion geniuses...
