The First Lady of the Czech Republic will open the International Christmas Festival in the Hilton, 26.11.
On Sunday the 26th November from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the Hilton Conference Hall will turn into a luxuriously charming room with scents and flavours from all over the world. This unique marketplace that supports Czech charitable organisations will be launched by Ivana Zemanová, the First Lady of the Czech Republic.
Journey around the World in One Day
At the luxurious Christmas Festival you can learn about the festive traditions and cultures of more than 40 countries. In addition to delicious dishes and unusual luxury gifts that you can buy there, there will also be dancers and singers. Painting on silk, henna painting on skin and decorative fruit carving will all be presented.
Every year the International Christmas Festival attracts thousands of visitors and it is traditionally launched by the First Lady of the Czech Republic. This year again this will be Ivana Zemanová.
“Most popular amongst our visitors are the tables at which diplomats dressed in their national costumes sell products that are typical of their own countries, such as sweets, selected delicacies, cosmetics, fashion items, jewellery, electronic gadgets and decorative or artistic items,” adds Ilda Poda, the coordinator of the festival.
The DSA Diplomatic Association is celebrating its 20th anniversary since its foundation. Its goal is to promote friendship and understanding between peoples of different cultures and from different nations. Cash donations from corporations or from private donors and the money collected at the market and through the Aukro are redistributed annually amongst the charitable Czech organisations. Since 2000, the DSA has distributed over 66 million Czech crowns in this manner.
The projects that are supported by the DSA have varying focuses. These include Czech hospitals, hospices, medical centres and children’s homes.
“Our achievements would not have been possible without the enthusiasm and the dedication of the DSA’s members, together with the volunteers’ help and the generosity of the sponsors. I believe that enthusiasm and optimism will also accompany us in the upcoming years,” adds Myung-ji Suh, the President of the Association.
From the 1st of November the tickets for a luxurious Christmas festival that cost CZK 100 can be purchased through the Ticketstream network. On site you would pay CZK 150, with free admission for children of up to 12 years of age, and there is a luxurious children’s corner with an entertaining animation programme that has been prepared for them. The festival is also complemented by the online “Diplomatic Auction”, which commences at www.aukro.cz on Friday, the 17th November.
