Lukáš Macháček is proof that the deluxe world of fashion does not just belong to women, but also men. This well-known and talented fashion designer, who started out as a stylist, boasts one success after another. He has presented at Prague Fashion Week, where he presented magnificent, simple and minimalistic collections, every year since 2013, but he is now focusing on something else. He has experienced many changes this year and his loyal fans will unfortunately not be able to see his shows at the MBPFW.

Lukáš has many new and interesting plans, which he talked about with our magazine Luxury Prague. Come and peek under the lid of the life of this successful and perspective man, who has clothed beautiful singer Monika Bagárová, Czech Miss 2011 Jitka Nováčková and other well-known celebrities.

How have you been doing lately and what are you working on?

I have experienced many changes and new things in my personal and professional life, but all very positive and I am very pleased with this development. I am currently working on several collab collections, I am preparing one international project and of course working on the FW18 collection.

What changes do you mean?

I will keep my personal life to myself. And there are many new, interesting projects and opportunities for collaboration in my professional life and I look forward to them very much. Unfortunately I am unable to reveal more, just that we want to try collaborating with one world-famous model, but it is all very secret for now and I can’t say any more about it.

What international project are you planning? Give us some details…

I’m sorry, but I can’t.

What is typical for the fashion you create?

I try to make imperfections into perfect luxury. I could use three words to express what I do accurately: simplicity, sophistication and minimalism. I originally began by not neatening seams at all, everything looked as if it was turned inside out. We are slowly abandoning this concept, but dark tones, wool, silk, linen, cotton and also oversize elements are all characteristic of my work. I create deluxe street style!

Last year at the MBPFW you shocked viewers with a simple presentation, which perfectly expresses your minimalistic fashion. What about this year’s Fashion Week?

I will only be able to enjoy it as a viewer this year and I am looking forward to it...!

Why did you decide to not participate this year?

I want to focus all my energy into one collection, disperse it into multiple smaller collections and focus on new clients, new collaborations and opportunities for instance. Expand awareness of my brand to people who are not familiar with it yet. This is my new goal and plan.

What is most difficult about preparation for Fashion Week?

Not making mistakes, there is no time!

Has presentation on this level brought you clientele from abroad?

Only individuals for the time being, but yes it has! As a result my clients are not only from the Czech Republic, but also from other countries, even well-known celebrities.

How will you present your work this year if you will not be presenting it at MBPFW?

I will be presenting my work this year outside MBPFW and the collection that will be created in cooperation with Adidas as FW18 and See now buy now will be presented within the terms of a major event with the support of this brand, which I greatly appreciate. Thanks to the whole team for this opportunity!

How will your FW collection be unique?

This is information that is not revealed before the collection is presented, so I would like to keep it for myself.

What is the greatest inspiration for creating your collection?

Life in the streets of large cities. What people wear normally on the street, how they combine un-combinable things, etc.

When you create designs do you focus on your fashion being unique or wearable?

Both.

Which foreign celebrity would you like to clothe and why?

Rihanna, she isn’t afraid of anything and then Tilda Swinton, she has a timeless fashion style!

The Czech celebrities you clothe most often are Monika Bagárová and Jitka Nováčková. What do these girls mean to you?

The girls and I started out together and we learnt together. I am no longer their “personal” stylist. The girls have learnt well and have managed to establish a name and style on the scene, which designers and brands fight for, and I am proud of this!

Do they have any special requirements?

No, nothing extra ...

Do they want to hide or emphasise any parts of their body?

Of course we always made sure that they were sophisticatedly sexy for the specific event and also wore clothes that they were comfortable in.

You also collaborate with Lukáš Vácha, how is this collaboration unique?

It was established on the basis of a friendship and has continued in this spirit and that makes me happy!

What was your most bizarre model and who was it for?

I don’t like things like that, so nothing.

What do you choose materials on the basis of?

On the basis of my personal feelings, I have to identify with the material and be 100% certain. I don’t compromise!

What do you think is all the rage in fashion right now?

I think that everything is all the rage. The highlight is latex (vinyl), bum bags are a must have. People have much more courage today than they used to. This is because of social networks, where even very young people have access to instagram, which also eliminates any shyness not only in lifestyle and fashion. And of course they find so much inspiration there.

Who is your muse?

I don’t have a muse right now, I am fine with just my own ideas.

Fast confession:

AnchorMonika Bagárová or Jitka Nováčková?

Monika.

What would you never wear?

Pink ruffles.

Do you like designing for men or women more?

For both.

Your biggest embarrassment?

Oh gosh, there have been so many.

The biggest?

I can’t think of anything right now, I don’t known which one to choose.

Sports fashion or elegance?

Sports.

What do you appreciate most in people?

Sincerity.

And what do people most appreciate from you?

Professionalism.

Which woman is the most beautiful in the world in your opinion?

I think there is no single most beautiful woman. They all have their own magic.

Who is your secret love?

I can’t say.

Your biggest inspiration?

Probably my mum.

What made you laugh most recently?

My friend, an hour ago.

Your favourite material for your work?

Natural materials in general, but I probably like wool best.

How do you accept criticism?

Pretty well now.

What do you consider a fashion faux pas?

A fashion faux pas is a sewn up split in a coat or jacket.
The interviewee questions the interviewer:

How are you?

Fine, here with you.
