The collection of Christopher Kane SS 2018 triggered very mixed feelings, and not only because of the embarrassing fashion pieces, but mainly thanks to the laid-back attitude of the models, their nude make-up and child-like look.

Christopher Kane chose a completely different path than many other world-famous fashion designers. While they mostly select for their luxury fashion shows familiar faces and mature women, he is fishing in younger ranks. And the SS 2018 collection was no exception.

The collection evokes the impression of a teenager luxury fashion show
The models who presented pieces of Christopher Kane were 20 years old on average. Among them were for example Mariana Zaragoza, Sarah Dahl, Kiki Willems, McKenna Hellam or Nina Marker. Apart from exceptions, Christopher Kane SS 2018 show looked more like a luxury parade of teenagers.
Bold and pastel colours, frills as well as a slight dose of the erotic
The collection is full of various shades, from vibrant yellow, passionate red, pure white, fine turquoise to sugar pink. It appears on elegant blouses, crocheted dress, luxurious coat with white ruffles or the comfortably-looking overall with cutouts.
The collection features several tops with the motif of a female bottom, dressed in erotic underwear and also night chemises with lace, made from transparent fabrics. However, in combination with childishly looking models, all these pieces make a kind of sheepish impression.
When a sloppy look becomes the intention…
The fact that the designer wishes to draw attention to his luxurious pieces and therefore slightly pushes the look of the models into the background may be understood. But if he chooses a look so sloppy that it attracts attention essentially to the same extent as the model itself, it is alarming.
The SS 2018 show left behind a puzzled question mark and I am very curious as to what will Christopher Kane come up with next time!

A collection which is not suitable for anything!
I have not known the designer Christopher Kane to this day and basically I would prefer it if that had remained so. I absolutely do not understand creating of a collection from rags of all kinds. Perhaps such craziness is praised in art schools but in my opinion no sane person will appreciate it in everyday life.
Do you remember those country aprons of our grandmothers? Those brightly coloured, with the various prints of blossoms... I thought to myself when I saw these horrors, whether Christopher didn´t manage to beg somewhere for a couple of bits of these aprons in order to stitch them together!
Dear friends, please do not buy anything so monstrous. You cannot wear it anywhere and never will be able to. This is simply out and that includes the past. Dinner is on the hob. Yours Xxx M.!
