Electric cabs launched in London
Black cabs have been a symbol of London for years, just like red phone booths and the famous doubledeckers. But you cannot stop progress and now for the second month you can ride through London in the electric version of the legendary black cab. Meet TX Taxi!
London needs more charging stations
Currently, there are about 1,200 of them in London and they are facing just one issue - there are not many charging stations in the city yet. Instead of the required 9,000, there are only around 2,000 because of the high cost.
One undisputed advantage of TX taxis are their zero emissions. They can travel approximately 80 miles (130 km) using electric power, then they have to switch to gasoline. This is not enough for a shift, as an average one is about 100 miles (161 km).
The price has climbed quite high
The traditional new taxi that cost £42,000 (approx. CZK1,250,550*), is no longer available. The hybrid version of a luxury taxi costs £65,000 (about CZK1,935,000*). The state contributes £7.5 thousand (approx. CZK223,000*). The difference then is £15.5 thousand (CZK462,000*).
