Prague has decided to further regulate the use of fireworks. It will be forbidden to use pyrotechnics in selected places, not even on New Year's Eve or New Year's Day. These include historic sites, banks of watercourses, the surroundings of hospitals, homes for the elderly, nature parks and the surroundings of the zoo.

explained Councilor Hana Kordová Marvanová. Until now, the city has controlled the organization of fireworks. This measure also applies to pyrotechnics that people buy themselves.
In addition, the city has completely banned flying lanterns throughout its territory. It is because sky lanterns are considered as open burning during the first moments of their flight and once released, they cannot be controlled.

The US presidential election begins today, and according to some experts, it may be one of the most important elections in American history. Current President Donald Trump's final campaign pitch was a false warning of cheating in Pennsylvania and counting votes that arrive late. At the same time, he questioned the Supreme Court's decision on the Pennsylvania election as "very dangerous" - the court had decided to extend the deadline for mail-in voting last week. Votes will be valid if they arrive by post within three days of the start of the election.
Trump shared his opinion on Twitter, and received criticism for this from the platform. Twitter added a warning to his post, stating that some of the content was "disputed" and could be considered “misleading.” Facebook verified this claim, adding that the Pennsylvania election has a “history of credibility".

The death toll from the earthquake in the Aegean has reached hundreds. The vast majority of the victims appear to have come from the West Turkish city of Izmir. According to the authorities, two teenagers also died on the Greek side of the sea - on the island of Samos. That makes this earthquake the deadliest one that has hit Turkey in the last decade.

The increase in new coronavirus cases in the Czech Republic keeps slowing down. There were 9,241 new infections on Monday, which is a thousand less than a week ago. However, the number of deaths has increased. 108 people have succumbed to the disease on Monday. In total, more than 350,000 people have been infected with coronavirus since March.

Nowadays, it's nearly impossible not to get nervous when you hear someone coughing. However, now it looks like this sound could also be useful. A new algorithm developed in the USA should be able to correctly identify people with Coronavirus based on their cough.
During testing, the algorithm achieved a 98.5 percent success among people who tested positive for Covid-19. Once the researchers get a permission, they would like to create a mobile application.
A researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Brian Subirana explained the system in more detail:
"The way you produce sound changes when you have Covid, even if you're asymptomatic."
