The share of parks, forests and other greenery in Prague is the thirteenth largest among cities in the world. This follows from the HUGSI index for 2020, which maps urban vegetation. During its drawfting, Husqvarna inspected a total of 155 cities from 60 countries.

"I am very pleased with Prague’s ranking. Greening the capital is our priority. We are lucky that Prague has great conditions for that. Greenery cools our city, retains water, helps us fight heat islands and also contributes to the city’s carbon neutrality. Every year we plant tens of thousands of new trees,"

says Deputy Mayor for the Environment Petr Hlubuček. Over the last 20 years, the area of public greenery has increased by more than 300 hectares, which is an absolutely unique increase in the conditions of European capitals. In addition, this trend is still continuing, so another 35 hectares of new green space are currently being developed.

It even ranked ninth in Europe. Only metropolises such as Vienna, Paris or Athens remained behind it. The absolute winner of the project was the city of Charlotte in the US state of North Carolina, in Europe the Lithuanian capital Vilnius won.

Within Europe, Prague ranked ninth, overtaking big metropolitan areas such as Vienna, Paris or Athens. According to the HUGSI index, the greenest city in the world is the American city of Charlotte in North Carolina, and Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, is leading Europe.

In addition to greenery, several hundred public lighting poles will appear in Prague, enabling Praguers to recharge their electric cars. The Municipal Society of Technology of the Capital City of Prague (TGMP) will thereby follow up on last year's project in Vinohrady, where thirteen so-called EV ready lamps were installed. There should be more than 400 of those in two years.

"According to estimates, we know that in 2030 there should be about 500 to 700 thousand electric cars in the country. It can be assumed that at least a fifth of them will be moving around Prague. Since building a sufficient network of charging points won't be a matter of a year or two, we started building the infrastructure for charging last year and we are using the potential of public lighting,”

explained councillor of the Capital City of Prague Jan Chabr. As part of the project, 3 to 6 thousand charging points for electric vehicles should be installed in public lighting in Prague over the course of six years. The costs are expected to climb to about 880 million crowns.

The first large real-world study of the BioNTech vaccine shows that it is highly effective against Covid-19. After a long time of bad news, this is finally something positive and a reason for hope that the economy could slowly be restarted. A two-month study in Israel, focused on one of the fastest-deployed vaccines, showed that using two doses of the Pfizer vaccines works 94% against covid-19. A study of approximately 1.2 million people proved, among other things, that a single dose was 57% effective. According to research, the vaccine developed by the American drug manufacturer Pfizer and the German company BioNTech is also effective against the British coronavirus mutation.

Of the nine million people living in Israel, almost half have received the first dose, and a third have received both. The first vaccination took place on 19 December. Thanks to that, the country has become the most important place for a real-world study of the vaccine.

Most of us probably know actress Kaley Cuoco as the not-so-smart waitress from the Big Bang Theory series. In her latest interview, Cuoco opened up about how she'd felt when she found out about the series was coming to an end after 12 long seasons. She says it happened in 2018, when the shooting of the 12th season began. The actress was summoned to the office of screenwriter Chuck Lorr, together with her acting colleague Jim Parsons, who played Sheldon in the series. It was he who brought up the idea of ending the series. According to his words, he couldn't go on.

Cuoco claims she was completely shocked. She had no idea what was going on. Despite the fact that she, as well as many of her colleagues from the series, wanted to continue, the creators decided that they wouldn't shoot more episodes without the character of Sheldon. Fans and actors alike had to come to terms with the fact that after a long eleven years, the series would come to its end.

Have a nice morning and think of the words of the writer Paul Coelho:

"The secret of life is to fall seven times and to get up eight times."
