The FW 2018/2019 collection by fashion house Dolce & Gabbana literally took everybody’s breath away at Milan Fashion Week. Although we are all used to extravagance and crazy combinations, the brand always surprises with its magnificence and sense for detail and embellishment.
Dolce & Gabbana simply knows how to make an impression and leave people with an unforgettable experience to remember. The entire fashion show started with the release of impressive drones into the room, which presented new luxury handbags from the FW 2018/2019 collection. They even managed some simple choreography, and the audience could barely believe their eyes. Although the show started an hour late and everybody was angry and impatient for it to finally begin, the opening was so shocking and interesting that everyone present was thoroughly astounded.
Dolce & Gabbana has always been among the more remarkable fashion brands, making it vastly popular and successful for its uniqueness and unconventionality. The FW 18/19 collection, as always, is bursting with incomparable details like the popular logo in unusual designs, gold embellishments, the pairing of sometimes almost unpairable pieces, which don’t look strange at all when you see them on the models.
The brand devoted considerable attention to art: drawings, paintings and embroidery. However, this might not be for everybody. The most space was dedicated to an angel, which constitutes a large detail on the clothing and gives it a touch of spirituality and faith. Luxury fashion combined with art is always a smart step, as confirmed several times on the catwalk.
It wouldn’t be D&G if there weren’t a million tiny details on the clothing to give it the right and unmissable dose of flair and remarkability. The collection thus includes embellished garments such as dresses, jackets, skirts and trousers, as well as shoes and handbags which will be a luxurious accessory to every simple outfit. The sense of detail and glitter is even apparent on the headbands, hats and tiaras that decorated the models’ heads and gave the collection a proper royal touch. The collection is also dominated by furry colourful elements, which are still very trendy.
The greatest show in the entire collection was the use of animal patterns. Several items combined with animal patterns stood out, such as the zebra-striped jacket with ears, eyes and nose, which might look cute but is actually completely unwearable. There are several such animal outfits in the collection, and not everybody was thrilled by them.
With Dolce & Gabbana, we mustn’t forget about luxurious evening gowns, which are always absolutely stunning. Naturally, their extravagance might rub some people the wrong way, but for the world of fashion it is stupendous. Glittering sequins create a unique effect, ruffles give the outfits a romantic touch and the other embellishments always draw attention.
Oh my god! The boys at Dolce & Gabbana really presented something incredible in the FW 2018 collection. They essentially created a sexy baroque catholic girl that will totally knock anybody out at first sight. There is so much that it’s a complete dilemma to choose from all that beauty!
I absolutely adore the bordeaux dress covered in sequins with tassels and applied roses. The suede strappy pumps paired with fishnet socks: wow!!! Those would make anybody the instant star of the party. In my opinion, a dress like that would be best suited for an evening out at Le Valmont bar, whose design is somewhat reminiscent of a little Paris in Prague.
But the highlight of it all is definitely the pale pink baroque coat with the LOVE glasses and the Marie Antoinette style wig in the same pink colour. I’m not joking, but if D&G sold that wig with the embellishments, I would wear it out on the street just like that model on the catwalk! Because art should not be ruined and I respect that. At least the Japanese would have one more thing to photograph at Old Town Square. :)
