The Dolce & Gabbana fashion house is known for its luxurious details, which are frequently over the top. However, the SS 2018 men’s collection is clear proof that what may seem to be too much at first glance, is actually original and unique, which is what is appreciated in fashion. And believe it or not, it also suits men.
Do you love colours, interesting fashionable pieces, which are certainly not boring? Then you will love the new luxury collection. The men’s suits caught our attention immediately. They are certainly not conservative, but pretty daring. What do you think about glossy red and black or bright blue or yellow? If you say a bold YES to these items, then wait until you see the others. We also love the sequined jackets, which will be miraculous with a simple outfit.
Colours, prints, gloss and a combination of everything. Luxury prints and large patterns reigned in this magnificent show. There were t-shirts with large patterns and also jackets, trousers and suits, which looked like they came from a circus. It was a show of great talent and playfulness.
We mentioned the #Boycott earlier, well this is when it happened. It was practically everywhere at the show, but particularly on the t-shirts that the designers themselves wore. These appealed to people to boycott the brand.
“It’s irony. A joke,” said Dolce before the show began. “People use plenty of strong words today, sometimes they are too aggressive. But the world needs love and, for us, fashion is love,” he added.
I must say that I find the new Dolce & Gabbana men’s collections very entertaining! I initially thought this would be just another fashion show, another simple exaggeration, but it wasn’t! I am pleasantly surprised, as I could imagine both my husband and my son wearing items from this collection.
I would love to put my son in the light-coloured suit with giant printed cards. It is both bold and playful and I think it would suit children, or adolescents at their school-leaving ball. It is a shame that they don’t make it in sizes for six-year olds.
I would put my husband in the perfectly sewn black or burgundy suit, you can never have enough of those! And it can be worn to work or even to the Vinohrady Theatre. Any man wearing this suit would certainly stand out, because the last time I was there I saw some bumpkins who came to the theatre wearing JEANS and ratty TENNIS SHOES!!!! And that should be a punishable offence in my opinion!
