Cook Islands in the Pacific Ocean are exotics at its best. People are smiling here all the time and, even in this day and age, local girls still know how to make a skirt out of grass. Rich people and adventurers from Europe, New Zealand, Australia and America are buying houses here and trying to catch up with their lost time in harmony with nature in a tropical paradise. We don't blame them! The moment you come here, you'll forget all your worries. Even Robinson would have loved to shipwreck on this island!
Rarotonza, the largest of the Cook Islands, is absolutely stunning, which is why we consider it one of the TOP places to spend your honeymoon!
It's not difficult to see the whole Rarotonga Island. It only has two roads, one of which runs around the island along the coast and the other encircles the inland. Then there's another route going across the island. That one, however, is reserved for adventurers and it's definitely not recommended to challenge it in flip-flops.
It is a good idea to rent a bike or scooter and explore the island. A round trip will take you a few hours, breaks included. You will encounter gorgeous hotels, but also dilapidated empty houses. Cows may cross your path and you'll be passing a multitude of cars with dented roofs. Why? One of the biggest dangers of the island are coconuts - every now and then, they fall. So don't forget to double check under what kind of tree you're about to have a nap! And if it happens to be a beautiful coconut tree, check the quantity and size of its fruits!
Have you ever dreamt of being on a beautiful beach with snow white sand, crystal clear water, palm trees behind your back and a romantic view in front of your eyes? Muri Beach on Rarotonza makes this dream dull in comparison. We promise that once you've seen it with your own eyes, you won't stop claiming it's the most beautiful beach in the world as long as you live! Don't forget your snorkel at home! What you'll see underwater here, even if you stay near the coast, will blow your mind!
The very journey to Rarotonga is an adventure. It's impossible to get there without 3 layovers: in an European metropolis (most often Paris, Malpensa or Copenhagen) in Singapore and in Auckland, New Zealand. You can find a return ticket for 50,000 - 60,000 CZK, but the prices tend to climb much higher!
There are plenty of luxury resorts on the island. Our personal favorite is Te Vakaora Villas! 6 stunning villas with a swimming pool overlooking Muri Beach. If this isn't a tropical paradise, we don't know what is! Check it out for yourselves!
