Denisa Nová is no newbie to the world of fashion, but an experienced and successful designer. She has been active on the market with her DNB brand for nearly 20 years, she has a residency abroad in the field of fashion design in London behind her and has received a number of awards, including the Czech Grand Design Award and the Chief Editors’ Award – Designblok Prague. She is distinguished by deluxe minimalistic models and this is also what her FW 18 collection includes.
Denisa Nová’s collections are usually in the spirit of wearable fashion and natural and classic tones. But she decided to include more distinctive colours such as yellow, orange and red, as well as the standard cream, nude, white, black and grey, in her FW 18 collection. In spite of this, her models from the autumn collection are among the simpler ones and she left the opportunity to creatively cut loose to other designers.
Denisa Nová’s favourite materials include wool, deluxe leather and silk. These are exactly the materials she integrated into her FW18 collection and this is why we could see classic and maxi knitted sweaters, sleeveless dresses and trousers made from velvety silk, leather jackets or deluxe accessories in the form of handbags and shoes also made from leather.
What was Denisa Nová’s deluxe collection like? This designer is certainly one of the few Czech designers who also considers the practical use of her clothes and prefers simplicity and purity. And this is exactly the sort of collection that is essential at Fashion Weeks in the parade of extravagance!
Denisa Nová is considered extremely experienced in her profession. But when I look at her collection as a whole, either I want to fall asleep within three seconds or I ask myself, “Why did that woman design this?”
Ok, a white blouse with a grey skirt is great for a clerk in the finance department, but what else can you do with it? And I personally am not the type of woman who prefers the greyness of office mice or desperately baggy sweaters for women with complexes about their figures. People don’t visit Fashion Week to admire clothes for lying around the house in do they?
Even when a fitted item did appear at the collection it was again terrible. Excuse me, but who wants to wear beige velvet HIGH-WAISTED sweatpants (!!!) with a drawstring, with a white turtle-neck?! And those awful shoes worn with this outfit???? No comment! If you really want a sexy tracksuit visit Juicy Couture, which is in a completely different league.
