American director David Zellner came to Carlsbad with his luxury Western comedy, Damsel, starring Robert Pattinson, young British actor famous from the Twilight saga, whose arrival is eagerly awaited. He should arrive in Carlsbad probably on Friday 6. 7.
What is Damsel about?
Samuel Alabaster (Robert Pattinson) is an affluent pioneer, ventures across the American frontier to marry his fiancée, Penelope (Mia Wasikowska). He is bringing wedding gifts as well as a pastor, who is supposed to marry them. But everything works out a bit differently than Samuel had imagined. Who is who, actually? In this humorous Western comedy even the pastor does not appear to be a pastor and beautiful Penelope was probably waiting for someone else.
What was the idea behind it?
Besides aiming to entertain, the main objective of David Zellner was to break down the cliché about Westerns. For example, the fact that women are just objects of men´s desire. The main hero in the film is untraditionally an Indian and the main animal a miniature horse.
"We wanted to completely turn round the expectations of the viewers," said David Zellner.
And in this respect the produces clearly succeeded. The luxurious comedy will certainly delight even those viewers who are not usually Western genre aficionados.
