The fashion brand Escada would probably not be where it is today if it had not chosen world-famous faces and beautiful bodies as the faces of its campaigns in the 90s. A luxury collection was thus made famous by the Czech Pavlína Pořízková, who easily competed with other international supermodels such as Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Linda Evangelista or Cindy Crawford.
When Pavlína is 3 years old, her parents emigrate to Sweden. The communist regime does not let her travel to be with them and she doesn’t see them again until she is 10 years old. After her parents’ divorce, she lives in poverty until a fairy godmother intervenes in the form of her friend who sends a photo of the fifteen-year-old beauty Pavlína Pořízková to a modelling agency. Her height, luxurious measurements and beautiful face take her all the way to the pinnacle of the fashion world.
In 1983, Pavlína Pořízková moves to the USA, her face and beautiful body adorn the covers of magazines such as Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, Playboy and Harper’s Bazaar, which ranked her among the 10 most beautiful women on the planet.
The luxury Escada brand was also aware of the beauty of this American supermodel of Czech origin who they have used as the face of their campaigns several times.
The history of the Escada brands stretches all the way back to Munich, where it was established in 1976 by the husband and wife team Margaretha and Wolfgang Ley. The name is derived from the name of the winning horse which the brand’s founders once successfully bet on.
Margaretha originally came from Sweden and gained her design experience at the Swedish royal court. Her designs were characterised by lively colours, imaginative patterns and use of the most luxurious of materials. After the death of the founder, formerly a model and designer, in 1992, several people took turns at the creative helm of the brand. The brand’s current fashion director is Daniel Wingate.
Luxury garments by Escada have become popular with the models Adriana Sklenaříková, Jerry Hall, Heidi Klum and actresses such as Demi Moore, Jane Seymour and Jessica Alba.
