A state of emergencyhas been declared in the Czech Republic, so far for a period of 30 days, within which the government can adopt measures quickly. A total of 96 people are already infected with coronavirus in the Czech Republic, two of which are in serious condition, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš reported.
The government has made the decision to close cultural, sports and leisure facilities. These include all cinemas, theaters, swimming pools, aquparks, wellness centers, sports grounds, libraries, gyms, farmers' markets and other places. All public events with more than 30 people have also been probihited. That basically means the end of all sporting events. Moreovr, restaurants and bars will be closed overnight, i.e. from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM. This is a significant tightening of the measures announced a few days ago.
At the same time, travel abroad is being restricted - foreigners coming from high-risk countries are not allowed to enter the Czech Republic and Czechs cannot visit those countries either. Public transport (trains and buses) to these countries will also be canceled; planes can still operate. The rule stands that Czech people and foreigners with permanent residence in the Czech Republic can return freely, but they will end up in quarantine. Borders with Germany and Austria are also being closed; crossing them will be possible only at pre-selected border points. Moreover, the army is moving towards the borders.
The list of high-risk countries follows: China, Italy, Iran, South Korea, Spain, Germany, France, USA, Switzerland, Norway, Japan, Denmark, the Netherlands, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Austria and Greece.

President Miloš Zeman also commented on the situation:
"The measures taken by the Government of the Czech Republic are necessary to protect the health of us all. They have my full support. Please, follow the established rules. At the same time, I'm asking you all not to succumb to fear and panic."
