Coronavirus is flooding the world. Countries with zero cases yesterday are now fighting the virus too!
Madagascar, several Pacific islands and some African countries still report zero infected. But for how long?
While in some countries thousands of people have contracted the coronavirus, there are still places where not a single case has been recorded. These include mainly a number of African states, but the situation is changing there too. Until recently, Namibia had been one of the countries resisting to the virus, but it reported its first case on 14.3. The coronavirus was detected in a Spanish couple who had just arrived in the country. It is the first case of contagion in the southwestern part of the continent.
The fact that Africa has such a low number of infections may be due to insufficient monitoring capacity. People also may not be showing visible symptoms, wherefore they don't even get tested, although they might be ill. Another reason for the zero, or low incidence of the disease may be the fact that the population in these countries is younger than in other countries. That, or the virus is only just heading there...
The coronavirus has not yet been recorded in Madagascar or on a number of islands in the Pacific. Venezuela in South America had long been resisting as well, but that changed. Two days ago, the first case was reported and the disease is expected to spread rapidly. The government admitted that it is not prepared to fight the virus.
Some countries have put preventive measures in place in a timely manner
There are still countries that have very few cases of coronavirus as of now, such as Mongolia or North Korea. And in some countries, preventive measures have worked very well. They immediately closed the borders, visitors from high-risk countries are being sent into isolation upon arrival, and last-year medicine students perform examinations at the airport, such as in Rwanda, Africa.
The way the situation changes from day to day, it is obvious that no country in the world will be spared. And where there is no confirmed infection today, several cases may appear in the next minute.
