We never expected this. The deluxe and popular Chanel House of Fashion, led by wonderful designer Karl Lagerfeld, is adding two new collections to the Chanel family: Coco Neige and Coco Beach. You can look forward to ski clothing and of course deluxe swimwear. But don’t expect to see these items in every boutique!
You may wonder why this busy fashion designer wants to throw himself into even more work. It is the fault of a simple holiday, during which Karl travelled to Saint-Tropez and noticed that Chanel shops do not offer a sufficient range of swimwear and he started to wonder what he could do about this. This is the story of the origin of the new swimwear collection, which will soon fill seaside luxury boutiques.
“We have about thirty boutiques at seaside locations, which are full of tourists in July and August. Cannes, Nice, Capri and Barcelona will now have swimwear and winter wear added to their range,” said Bruno Pavlovsky, president of the Chanel house of fashion.
The Coco Neige collection represents deluxe winter wear for enthusiastic skiers, who are partial to fashionable ski outfits. Neige will be available at all deluxe ski resorts, where Chanel boutiques are located. One of these is Courchevel, where Chanel has a temporary shop during the winter months. Coco Beach consists of bikinis, one-piece swimsuits, denim items, bags and espadrilles. You can find the swimwear in classic black with a white logo, or hand written intertwined “Cs” on a pink or red background. There will certainly be something to look forward too.
You can look forward to swimwear and winter clothing in June, when the holiday season begins. If you happen to visit the beautiful French film town of Cannes you want have to take a swimsuit with you and you can shop for one in the Chanel boutique on the deluxe shopping avenue.
Because we are very enthusiastic about the new plans of the Chanel House of Fashion, we found several collections from the past (see the gallery). Take a look at what sort of swimsuits were worn in the nineteen nineties. A classic triangular shape and one-piece swimsuits in black or white predominated. But interesting colours could also be seen here and there. What will the swimwear from the new collection look like?
