Plaster casts and a chessboard style floor: a deluxe and detailed interior
Creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri decided that the Spring 2018 Couture show would be polished to the smallest detail. The perfect black and white interior full of plaster casts of selected parts of the human body, a monstrous birdcage, a chessboard style floor and expensive white curtains hanging on the walls. The perfect ambiance created at Musée Rodin was a portent that Christian Dior’s show would be excellent.

Surrealistic items reveal the hidden and intuitive face of women
The artistic style of surrealism was the inspiration for Maria Grazia Chiuri. The deluxe black and white collection reveals the hidden and intuitive face of the Dior woman and endeavours to capture her dreams, ideas, thoughts and feelings. According to her, surrealism frequently shows us dreams, the unconscious and women’s bodies.
The black and white monotony was disrupted by sensual red
The Spring 2018 Couture collection consists of luxurious dresses made from transparent fabrics, captivating black and white optical illusions and several bolder colours and applications. A red off-the-shoulder dress with a pleated skirt, which completely disrupted the black and white monotony, enlivened the show.
Dior also chose khaki feathers or delicate lavender
Dior also chose bronze with a deluxe glitter, khaki coloured feathers, a combination of orange and lavender, a blue eye pattern and also a wide range of neutral shades. Excellent items that are worth mentioning, that are very sensual while still being extremely elegant suits and emphasise the female shape.
Accessories in first place: sensual masks and temporary tattoos
Christian Dior created a first class look for its models using sensual masks made by Stephen Jones, tattoos on their collar bones and distinctive eye makeup.

Absolutely FANTASTIC apart from the nylon knee socks!
The Dior brand’s black and white collection is something for me! Banded corsets, transparent lace and kilograms of feathers, WOW! And I mustn’t forget the deep black masks: if these were socially acceptable I would even visit the theatre in a mask like that. Imagine the excitement of entering the National Theatre where a man awaits you and you sit in his box like the most mysterious being.....you won’t remember much from the performance. (Of course I’d do it!)
String corsets, which practically reveal the nipples with a classic long flared skirt.....ooohh! I love the transparent chequered one with the enormous knickers! But you’d better choose the version with the silk black and white squares for the Viennese Ball at the opera.
And now the biggest thumbs down: the black NYLON knee-socks, which are part of practically every model are absolutely incomprehensible to me!!! But my former Czech teacher would love them! Hopefully Dior will eliminate this manner of wearing them from its Summer collection (which we cannot expect from my teacher....).
