Vanda Janda SS20

At the MBPFW in March she introduced a collection full of tulle, long trains and maxi hats. That's why we expected something really out there this time too. When models in retro 60's style began appearing at the show, we were surprised - albeit pleasantly!

"What I see in it is what I had in mind when making it. It's inspired by my hobbies, preferences and aesthetics. If I didn't know about these sources, however, it'd strike me as something completely different. I'd like you to view it however you view it and for it to remind you of whatever it reminds you of," says Vanda Janda about her collection.

We see a collection of luxurious outfits from the 60's transformed into modern times. We're loving all the femininity, playfulness, style and seductiveness, carrying through SS20 from start to finish.

Resemblance to Valentino purely coincidental?

Are we still at Vanda Janda's show, or have we been transported to Italy without noticing? That's what came up on our minds the moment we saw a fuchsia dress with a long train. No, we're still in Prague. But do tell, don't you see the resemblance too?!

We're into this!

One model that we're really into is a beige tunic with white dots. Out in town, at a meeting, on a date? You can simply wear this piece for any occasion!

Dots have the green light! Caroline Costas offers a stylish alternative.

Purses from the 60's

Luxurious models at the show were complemented by purses in the shades of white, brown and pink. Vanda collaborated on them with the Czech brand Loro Oro. The collection uses several kinds of top quality Italian leather including Croco effect, Ruga or Dauphine.

Why did Vanda Janda even go into designing?

"I create fashion because aside from breathing and consuming food, we are not obligated do anything. We can be out on the street, walk on foot, the only thing we're kind of forbidden from doing is walking around nude if we want to peacefully exist in society. I can't breathe for others, I can't even cook, therefore I sew."

"Vanda Janda is cool, Vanda Janda is extreme, Vanda Janda's collections tend to be really crazy!!!" This is what I'd been hearing before I even saw her newest collection. I heard it from people who'd had the chance to go to one of her previous fashion shows.

Surprise of the day

I admit that I expected just about anything... I actually imagined something totally brutal, like completely unwearable fashion whose only purpose is to shock at all costs, making many a spectator drop their jaws in wonder at the crazy fashion creations. Images of models wearing juggling dog accessories instead of purses or dresses like from the fairytale The Peasant's Wise Daughter were swirling through my mind. Lo and behold, her new collection is here and I'm probably a little disappointed in it, but on the other hand pleasantly surprised. No one was juggling, no one looked like a total hobo and no model outwardly suffered during the presentation. (you know how it is sometimes)

Right on the dot!

Nothing crazy happened, nor did anything extravagant take place. I'm looking at the outfits that are ready to wear and I feel like I'd be able to fill a part of my closet with them. I'd just have to go out without my partner when wearing this, because he likes me better in stuff that attracts less attention. I really like the high collar tops with long sleeves and polka dots, too. They look airy and definitely will hide whatever needs to remain hidden. But if you are a bit bustier, be careful not to look like a farm maid from the movie series Slunce Seno, headed out to a village dance "somewhere" in Malenice.
