The road to glory is not an easy one. If you want to become a famous actor or singer, you have to count with the fact that Hollywood won't embrace you overnight. In addition to talent, you'll need a fair share of luck, the right connections, sharp elbows and, above all, patience. It is therefore obvious that until you get discovered by the agent who'll turn you into a star, you won't be able to pay your rent and food by sitting at home and waiting for a phone call. Many Hollywood celebrities could speak volumes about it. Before they became famous, they had to make their living as "ordinary mortals". LP-life.cz brings you a peek at the jobs the famous had been working before they conquered the red carpet. We bet you're going to be surprised.
If someone asked you who you consider the most handsome and charming among Hollywood actors, Brad Pitt would most likely be one of the first names to pop up in your mind, even though he's pushing sixty. Well, let's be honest, if you've seen the new movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, where this "old fart" takes off his shirt, you're probably not surprised that he's still an idol of many women and can put his younger colleagues to shame. Although the actor had initially studied journalism at college, his love for acting was stronger and he abandoned his studies.
In order to earn money for acting classes, he had to take any job he came across. Before his breakthrough in the film industry, this hunk used to work as a chicken. Or, more specifically, as a mascot in a chicken costume trying to lure customers to the grand opening of a fast food chain in California. This handsome blond fellow had to spend hours standing on the street in a yellow feathered costume, waving at passersby. But let's not kid ourselves, ladies. If Brad was standing in front of a fast food in that costume today, there soon wouldn't be a single feather left on him.
Do you know what Sandra Bullock, Lady Gaga, Julianne Moore or Gwyneth Paltrow have in common? Aside of being beautiful, successful and talented, the three ladies also have a similar past. All of them used to work as waitresses before their breakthrough in the music or film industry. Every morning, they would change into the uniform of the respective establishment, put on a smile and serve the incoming guests. Lady Gaga, a holder of several Grammy awards, even mentioned her past job several times in foreign media.
But let's move on to another gentleman whose original profession is definitely worth mentioning. Before Hugh Jackman became the famous Wolverine, many knew him as the teacher Mr. Jackman, and it wouldn't have occurred to most of his pupils to snap a selfie with him. Until he was discovered, Hugh worked as a gymnastics teacher at a boys' English school. Personally, I'm not a very sporty type and I often skipped my P.E. classes, but I admit it's not so hard for me to imagine that Hugh would be the person teaching me how to do somersaults and holding me during my handstand attempts.
And what do these stories show? Whatever your current job, if you're dreaming of standing on the red carpet in Karlovy Vary next to the likes of Jiří Bartoška, don't let anyone trample your dream. There's always hope!
