The popular fashion fair, which takes place twice a year in Florence at the popular Fortezza da Basso, had a lot to offer on its 93rd installment. As one of the most prominent international platforms for men’s clothing collections and the introduction of new projects, it welcomed world-renowned designers from Finland, New York, Japan or Korea, to name a few. And it was especially the luxurious Korean brand “Beyond Closet” that caught our eye with their crazy, non-conventional collection!
The creative director of the luxurious brand, Taeyong Koh, showed that he’s not afraid to show what he can do! When creating the FW 2018 collection, he let his fantasy run wild and created strongly non-conventional items. And a closer look seems to suggest that he found inspiration in the legendary Harry Potter series – how else can one explain jackets made of luxurious materials which resemble the uniforms at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry?
How fitting – in the year of the Dog, Taeyong Koh created a luxurious collection with plenty of canine motives. Elegant and sporty jackets, sweaters, shirts and scarves – you’ll find clothing with motives of the much-loved pet almost everywhere!
Beyond Closet clearly showed the fashion direction for the upcoming fall and winter. Don’t be afraid of shapes – use squares, lines and diamonds to their fullest. And as far as colors go, try some brighter colors such as fresh purple, passionate red or light earthy hues.
The range of models that appeared during the 93rd Pitti Immagine Uomo fair was truly entertaining for me. I mean, let’s be honest – you really don’t want to meet your soulmate wearing these clothes! And if you do, then only as a form of punishment, perhaps for coffee stains on the table!!!
It’s really like a mixture of the movies “Ready for the Grave” (dad’s old-timey fashion) and “The Elementary School”. I mean, look at those knee socks! And that poop-brown sheepskin jacket? No, that definitely should not be worn in public!
The only person who might find something interesting here could be Mick Jagger. That purple sweater with a skull or the creamy brown jacket with a tie and mink fur cap, that’s really all Mick in the sixties! In fact, I’d go as far as suspecting the designer of repurposing his personal style from that time…
But for all others: do us a service and don’t wear this anywhere.
