Are you planning a visit to Vienna? Do not miss the tour of luxury and very atypical architecture of Friedensreich Hundertwasser. However, this ingenious artist, originally from the Austrian capital, left his signature elsewhere, too. For example, in New Zealand, where you can go to luxury public toilets and enjoy their added artistic value.
Friedensreich Hundertwasser was born in 1928 in Vienna. Despite being gifted in more artistic fields, the most famous in the world are his luxurious architectural works. These are unique treasures; there is not anything like it anywhere in the world. By their shape, colour and total other-worldly atmosphere, which they exude, these structures are extremely timeless.
The walls which have no classic edges, windows, which are not of identical size, nor are they positioned at the same level, mosaics on the façade of ceramic tiles, which you would in normal life use perhaps only to tile your bathroom. This is not a usual world; but a magical one of Friedensreich Hundertwasser.
The Hundertwasserhaus may be found near the centre of Vienna and it is one of the main magnets attracting tourists who admire architecture. But not only them. The houses are simply attractive for anyone´s eye.
There is a family house offering a total of 50 apartments. And here, demand for housing has always strongly exceeded the supply! Which creative mind would not want to live in a colourful house with seemingly uneven floors, in a house disposing of all straight lines? Who would not long to live in a house with trees on the roof as well as indoors? It is the Viennese residential house of Hundertwasserhaus, which was completed in 1985, which is the ultimate work of this extremely talented artists.
The design of the museum, KunstHausWien, which was opened in Vienna in 1991, was also made by famous Hundertwasser. There is a permanent exhibition of this unique artist and architect. Definitely make it a part of your visit here and enjoy sitting in the luxurious coffee shops in the yard. Besides the fact that this is a unique location surrounded by impressive atmosphere, an excellent Sacher cake is served here!
If you ever go to New Zealand, in the northern island is a small town called Kawakawa. It would certainly be not as attractive, were it not for the luxury public toilets, designed by master Hundertwasser. This is probably the only public toilet in the world which people voluntarily, happily seek out - for a totally different purpose than that for which it was created.
