A quick look back at some historical milestones

The beginning of the brand dates back to 1939. The Italian racing driver and mechanic Enzo Ferrari called his first company Auto Avio Costruzioni. Talk began of the automobile manufacturer as such in 1947, when a car was completed bearing the typical emblem – a prancing horse on a yellow background with the Italian tricolour. This was the legendary model 125 S.

The first race in 1948, which a Ferrari participated in, was held in Turin. The first victory came in 1949 at Lago di Garda. The unique large-engine Ferrari sports car, the type 340 America, with an output of 162 kW, intended for the US market was introduced in Paris in 1950.

In 1967, Ferrari started collaboration with Fiat. Vehicle types 330 GT, cabriolet GTS, Fiat Dino, 456 GT and 456 GTA gradually started to leave the factory. In 1984, the super sports Testarossa V12 was launched on the market with a maximum output of 287 kW, maximum speed of 291 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds. Its successor was the Ferrari 512 TR and then the Ferrari 288 GTO with luxurious driving performance (294 kW) and a top speed of 305 km/h.

Enzo Ferrari died in 1988 and until the end of his life, stood proudly at the head of the whole company. The famous history of the automobile manufacturer by no means ended with the death of its founder. His death was followed by creation of a series of luxury cars: the Ferrari F50, 550 Maranello, Ferrari 360, Ferrari F430, California, or the current model Ferrari F12 Berlinetta.

Magnificent celebrations

This year’s celebrations were held in grand style. More than 60 countries played host to luxurious Ferrari cars. Prague joined in the celebrations with its spectacular parade of 35 first-class sports cars, celebrations which will culminate this year in Maranello on 9 and 10 September 2017. It will certainly be worth having a look at that!
