The popular fashion designer of the wedding dress worn by Carrie Bradshaw in Sex in the City surprised us with her shocking collection for SS19. It is full of courageous details, colorful wigs, oversize clothing, and other pieces that prove anyone can basically wear anything.
The fashion show, which took place in a hall in the center of which there was a paper sculpture and the ceiling was decorated with paper balls and crumpled paper, was calm and liberating. It surely induced a very pleasant feeling in every visitor. The models strolled around, men skated on skateboards or scooters, and they presented luxury street fashion perfectly.
The SS19 collection from fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, created in collaboration with Andreas Konthaler, is full of punk elements that make it clear that fantasy has no limits!
The clothes are divided into several styles. Do you like fashion that looks like artwork, luxurious original gowns, or do you prefer something more "normal"? We warn you beforehand, however, you will not find much that counts as normal in the collection. But we like how the designer played with the styling. The models wore various colorful wigs, a chair-style hat, or scarves on the head.
The crazy luxurious pieces from the SS19 collection are not for everyone, but even so, even someone with a love for simplicity might be able to choose. Not every outfit has to be boring, which is clear in this collection. It is full of very extravagant models, such as dresses with huge bags, color sprayed overalls, horse patterns, long shirts, tunics and interesting corsets. The tulle-decorated boots that complemented some of the outfits and gave them a full dose of madness were also impossible to overlook. Even the color palette of the collection is beautifully playful. It offers designs from light tones to the most colorful ones.
Since 2008, this is the first time that the Vivienne Westwood collection does not evoke a sense of horror in me. I understand that Vivienne is a versatile artist, but sometimes her creations are almost tasteless. All in all, the SS19 collection offers style and beauty, and that's shocking in this respect.
The very first model that caught my eye me is almost entirely built on a powder corset. It plays the lead role and is perfectly complemented by a white flowing tulle skirt, a gold belt, and as for the shoes, I would rather overlook the shoes. I think it's timeless, maybe even a little futuristic. And that's just what I enjoy the most. Feeling like Milla Jovovich in the film "Fifth Element" (1997), why not? It was only Jean Paul Gaultier himself who created those costumes...and that speaks for itself.
Finally, surprisingly, I will omit the bizarre elements like a portable table around the waist, because I write about such madness in the article "The most bizarre collections of the New York Fashion Week!". That's why I would like to mention the nude bodysuit in combination with a long colored coat, green sunglasses and luxurious stilettos with straps. Again it's almost trailblazing for me, and if the bodysuit were a swimsuit, it would call for a mandatory visit to a prominent beach!
