The popular Italian brand has opened its permanent Gucci Garden exhibition on the historical premises of the Palazzo della Mercanzia in Florence. The blossoming fashion garden is divided into several thematic rooms and presents the fashion house’s new vision and celebrates the brand’s aesthetic and history. For this reason, it also includes vintage advertising items and stylish retro pieces.
The exhibition spreads over two storeys and the ground floor. The ground floor is free, while admission to the upper floors is paid. A ticket to the style museum costs 8 EUR and half of this amount goes to support projects for the restoration of Florence. A brilliant idea that definitely deserves credit.
The ground floor houses commercial premises full of luxurious and special products, which you won’t get anywhere except at Gucci Garden. If you want to enjoy a good meal, you can dine at the three-stared Michelin restaurant Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura, run by Italian executive chef Massimo Bottura.
The main exhibition takes place on the first and second floors. The Guccification room celebrates the charm of the double G and presents vintage and modern versions of the logo – Guccy, Guccify and Guccification. Paraphernalia is a room dedicated to signature codes and symbols which define the brand. Cosmorama reveals the history of the brand’s elite customers and development. The De Rerum Natura section is divided into two rooms and looks like a natural history museum, examining Alessandro Michele’s interest in the iconography of animals and gardens. The walk through the blossoming fashion garden ends in the Ephemera room, where a view of the present is composed of videos, mementos and items reflecting the history of the luxury fashion house.
