Behind the successful American brand of Marchesa stands the duo of Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig. The designers working in the centre of vibrant New York have been presenting a constant-quality, excellent output for 14 years. It their creation they rely on creativeness, precise craftsmanship and quality materials. The result is luscious gowns full of bold applications, designs, shimmer and gleam of precious stones.
The latest collection Resort 2019 is dominated by flowers, which accompany the luxury models not only as embroidery on the dresses, but also hair accessory or are held in the hand. And the fragrant garden miracles go with a corresponding colour palette. The gowns show all shades you can think of - peach, lemon, roses or for example peony.
While in the past, luxury dresses by Marchesa were worn on the red carpet by the greatest Hollywood stars, such as Cameron Diaz, Halle Berry, Jennifer Lopez, Eva Longoria, Kristen Stewart, Emma Watson, Blake Lively or Penélope Cruz, last year saw a sharp turn.
The husband of Georgina Chapman, film producer Harvey Weinstein was accused of sexual harassment of film stars and they as a form of protest started to avoid the brand.
It was Scarlett Johanson who was the first to bring the luxury brand back under the spotlights and eyes of the public. She wore a burgundy-coloured dress to prestigious Met Gala 2018 and perhaps ensure that Marchesa will once again be frequently seen on the red carpet. The Resort 2019 collection would deserve it!
At first glance, this is one of the most romantic and innocently tender fashion shows EVER! And those are precisely the reasons why I have enjoyed this brand for so many successive years.
I was most of all enchanted by precisely detailed sophisticated gown of light blue colour which was decorated not only by stones, but also three black bows. It was the bows that lent the dress its melancholic tone, which is a little reminiscent of the Belle Epoque era (obviously updated a bit). Such a dress would be perfectly suited for a luxurious party at the Monte Carlo casino or perhaps the Grand Hotel Pupp, Carlsbad. It would certainly find its place at some banquet. In recent times these are beginning to appear quite widely here again, in Bohemia.
Furthermore, my attention was caught by the little black dress with long sleeves: I imagine the chief editor of some fashion magazine to wear exactly something like this! Stylish, sexy and yet sufficiently formal! And do you know that I can tell you a secret? The ladies from Luxury Prague Life do follow this stylish trend and dress for the job in this spirit... Let yourself be inspired, too. :)
