The week of Milan’s men’s fashion has just finished and we have made an analytic review of the newest collection of the luxury fashion houses, Prada and Dolce & Gabbana. This time, we were truly shocked at the kind of concepts, that were presented by the two brands. We’re used to something entirely different from D&G, extravagance, baroque style and luxury craftsmanship of ornaments. However, this time it was all different, and unconformity was served by the until now always elegant Prada! It seems that the two brands have changed roles.
The new luxury collection by Prada, which was presented at the fashion week in Milan was full of colourful motifs and elements inspired by army wear. Supposedly, they represent freedom fused with conservatism, which can be seen in the combination of a jacket with a bare chest, and pants. Although the whole outfit seems like a conservative and staid classic, it is greatly accentuated by the bare skin. This, however, wasn’t all that was for display at the show!
The fashion house played with very distinctive colours, flower and abstract motifs, and layered belts, and furry details. We are certainly not used to this level of extravagance from Prada, and we remind you, that this is the men’s collection!
We still can’t believe it. Domenico Dolce a Stafano Gabbana presented a luxury men’s collection at the FW 19/20, which doesn’t contain any baroque elements or decorated embroidery, symbols, nor a combination of expressive colours, but foremost simplicity and elegance. Where did their passion for gaudiness disappear? Are they trying compensate for their large overstep with China? Who knows, but the designers truly impressed us. This is exactly how we picture a modern man!
The exhibition of luxury overcoats, coats, pants, shirts, t-shirts and other clothes was ahead of its time, and they definitely won’t last you more just one season, but they can stay in your closet for a few years. Especially men will appreciate that, won’t they?
No, don’t worry, you didn’t accidentally click on the sports section. We’re discussing the Italian fashion houses Prada and Dolce & Gabbana. Surprised? Yes...whether it’s a pleasant one or not, depends.
Prada first then. I appreciate this brand, especially for the quality of its bags, handbags, wallets and shoes. When you buy a pair of Prada shoes, they last you for life. Seriously! I know at least three people, who have had moccasins or snow boots from Prada for more than twenty years and they still look as if they were new. But now, back to the men’s collection. I am beside myself from it. On the one hand, I love the cosmic energy in the form of flashy motifs in the style of David Bowie in the 70’s, but would I like to see my man in a knitted sweater with hearts and a large pin? No, I seriously wouldn’t. So again, only the shoes are victorious!
Finally, we have the exquisite collection Dolce & Gabbana. A double-breasted jacket in the shade of capri blue in combination with a black turtle-neck, classic pants, leather gloves and great shoes. Wow! These are exactly the kind of clothes, that will bind your peers in a spell. So elegant and sexy!!! That is exactly how I imagine a perfectly dressed man with a big M. And the red sweater with pompoms? In combination with black, it is still a predominantly men’s affair. So if you’re hesitating what to go for, you can definitely be sure about this!
